How the single connects to the tour announcement
Foo Fighters released “Asking For A Friend” on October 23, 2025, the same day the tour was announced. In a statement reproduced by Sony Music Canada, singer and guitarist Dave Grohl described it as a song for people “who have waited patiently in the cold, relying on hope and faith for their horizon to appear.” The label also characterized the track as darker in melody than “Today’s Song,” with verses that build into intense refrains; that description is the label’s, rather than an independent review.

Grohl’s statement called it “One of many songs to come…,” framing the release as part of a new chapter for the band. The announcement also linked the return to live performance with a relationship with Queens of the Stone Age, who were named as support on the tour dates outside Fargo.
