Kirk Medas, an original cast member of MTV’s Floribama Shore, died on May 2, 2025, at age 33. His father told TMZ that doctors said Medas died from liver failure. Separate reports described a serious intensive-care hospitalization involving necrotizing pancreatitis and sepsis; those reported conditions should not be treated as an independently established explanation of the cause of death.
What was reported about Kirk Medas’s death
TMZ reported on May 2, 2025, that Medas had died after nearly two weeks in an intensive care unit. His father told the outlet that doctors said liver failure caused his death (TMZ).
TVLine, citing Deadline, reported that Medas had been hospitalized with a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis and sepsis. The Miami Herald also reported necrotizing pancreatitis and said he had been on a ventilator (TVLine; Miami Herald). These are accounts of his illness and hospitalization; the public reporting cited here does not establish how those conditions related to the liver failure his father described. No reported evidence here supports attributing his illness to alcohol or another personal habit.
Medas’s career on Floribama Shore
MTV launched Floribama Shore in 2017, following eight young adults living along the Gulf Coast from Florida to Alabama. Medas was an original cast member and appeared in all four seasons. The show concluded its run in 2021; the Miami Herald counted 25 episodes from 2017 to 2020 (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution; Miami Herald).
