What reinstalling changes

Check whether the computer is supported
Reinstalling cannot make an unsupported operating system compatible. Spotify’s current supported-device information lists these minimums:

Make sure Premium belongs to the account you opened

- Do not assume identities match: An Apple relay address, Google login, and separate email address can lead to different Spotify accounts.
- Family or Duo: Ask the plan manager whether you are still a member and whether Spotify requested address or eligibility verification.
- Partner billing: If a mobile carrier, internet provider, or other partner bills Premium, check that partner account rather than expecting Spotify to show a direct payment.

Reports of this desktop restriction message have included 409 and accesspoint:22. They are useful details for support, but Spotify does not publish a complete public technical dictionary for these codes. - On Mac, open the Spotify menu at the top of the screen. On Windows, open File from the three-dot menu. Turn off Offline mode if it is enabled.
- Open another website, restart the router, and try a different network.
- Temporarily disconnect a VPN or proxy and retry. A work, school, hotel, or public network may restrict Spotify or present an unexpected country.
- Check firewall or security-software rules and allow Spotify through them. Do not permanently disable protection.

Use the web player while the desktop app is fixed
Open open.spotify.com as a low-risk workaround. Spotify supports current baseline versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, and Safari, with browsers updated within approximately the last 30 months. Update the browser and try a private or incognito window if sign-in fails. (Spotify web-player help)
If the web player says protected content is disabled, enable the browser’s DRM or Widevine setting. Some Windows editions may also require the Media Feature Pack. The web player does not provide every native-app feature, especially offline desktop downloads.

Do not make these mistakes
- Do not buy Premium again before checking the account and reinstalling the client.
- Do not install unofficial archived installers, APKs, or “fixed” desktop builds. They may be tampered with, unsupported, or unable to authenticate.

- Do not permanently disable antivirus or firewall protection.
- Do not delete account data unnecessarily. Reinstall only after accepting that offline downloads must be recreated.

Contact Spotify after a current installation, correct login method, password reset, and network test have failed. Include:
- the exact message and any code, including 409 or accesspoint:22;
- Windows or macOS version and Spotify app version;
- whether Premium appears active on the account page;
- whether the plan is Individual, Student, Duo, Family, or partner-managed;
- whether the web player and mobile app work;
- the network, VPN, proxy, and firewall conditions under which the failure occurs.
