The evidence is strongest for David and Champion: FourFourTwo says David has supported the club all his life and that Champion has a season ticket. The remaining names appear in FourFourTwo’s list of famous Saints fans, without comparable detail about their support.
How strong is the evidence for each Southampton supporter?
These names come from published accounts of celebrity supporters, not a current census or a record of who regularly attends matches. FourFourTwo supplies all five names; a 2017 VICE guide independently mentions Craig David and Chris Packham and refers to Coldplay’s drummer without naming him. Neither source establishes that the people listed are currently attending games.
| Name | What the source reports | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Craig David | FourFourTwo describes him as a Southampton fan all his life and calls him probably the club’s most famous supporter. VICE also identifies him as a famous fan. | Neither account establishes his current match-attendance habits. “Probably the most famous” is FourFourTwo’s editorial assessment, not a measured ranking. |
| Will Champion | FourFourTwo identifies the Coldplay drummer as a Southampton supporter and says he has a season ticket. VICE independently refers to Coldplay’s drummer among Saints fans, though it does not name Champion in that passage. | The sources do not independently verify whether the season ticket is current. |
| Lucy Pinder | FourFourTwo includes her in its list of famous Saints fans. | The Southampton section does not give a supporting anecdote or first-person explanation. |
| Chris Packham | Both FourFourTwo and VICE identify him as a Southampton supporter. | The cited passages do not include a first-person explanation of his allegiance or establish current match attendance. |
| David Frost | FourFourTwo includes him in its list of famous Saints fans. | The Southampton section does not give a supporting anecdote or first-person explanation. |
Why Craig David and Will Champion stand out
The accounts offer a more specific basis for David and Champion than for the other three names. FourFourTwo’s claim that David has supported Southampton throughout his life speaks to a longstanding affiliation; its season-ticket detail for Champion is a concrete link to following the club. Those are reported claims, not proof of recent attendance, and the available sources do not include direct explanations from either man about why they support the Saints.
Other names reported as Saints supporters
Pinder, Packham and Frost belong on the list because FourFourTwo identifies them as famous Southampton fans. Packham has a second, older mention in VICE’s 2017 guide. That corroborates that he has been reported as a supporter, but the passages do not offer the same level of detail as the reports about David and Champion.

- Soft, warm, acrylic knit, with soft fringes at either end
- Southampton team colors of Red, black, white throughout
- Team name and Jersey logo print on both sides
- The Ultimate Soccer Fan Accessory
- Over 5 feet long | Fringes at Each End
VICE’s guide also names former Sky Sports football presenter Ed Chamberlin. He is a plausible additional name, but FourFourTwo’s Southampton section provides the clearest basis for this five-person list.

Southampton’s celebrity supporters are not documented here through a quantified survey or a definitive club register. The 2017 VICE article is useful as historical corroboration, not as a current survey; a 2026 Premier League roundup that reviews high-profile supporters at top-flight clubs does not include a Southampton entry, so it neither updates nor disproves these older reports. Southampton FC’s own profile of supporter Lin Webb offers a first-person account of supporting the club, including memories of the 1976 FA Cup win and attending at St Mary’s, but it is context about the supporter experience rather than evidence for any celebrity claim.

Accordingly, the most accurate description is that these five have been identified by publications as Southampton supporters, with more specific reported details for David and Champion. The sources do not establish a ranking of all celebrity fans, current attendance patterns, or personal statements from the five about their allegiance.
