BBC Studios’ 2025/26 slate points to five series worth keeping on your 2026 watchlist: three new titles and two returning shows. The shortlist spans Jane Austen and Inspector Lynley adaptations, alongside series whose new-season details are not established in the slate announcement. It is a set of recommendations, not a quality ranking, and a financial-year slate does not guarantee a 2026 premiere for every title.
At a glance: the five BBC series
| Series | Status in BBC Studios’ 2025/26 slate | Confirmed hook |
|---|---|---|
| The Other Bennet Sister | New | Drama set in the world of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, based on Janice Hadlow’s novel. |
| Riot Women | New | A new drama involving writer Sally Wainwright. |
| Ludwig | Returning | Listed as a returning title. |
| Blue Lights | Returning | Listed as a returning title. |
| Lynley | New | A new imagining of the Inspector Lynley crime novels. |
These descriptions come from BBC Studios’ 2024/25 annual report, which outlines programming for its 2025/26 financial year. It does not establish a premiere date, full synopsis, cast, or episode count for every title.
1. The Other Bennet Sister
For viewers drawn to literary adaptations, this drama takes its cue from Janice Hadlow’s novel and is set in the world of Pride and Prejudice. Its focus on a character at the edge of Austen’s familiar story offers a different entry point into that world. BBC Studios’ slate announcement does not provide a detailed plot or cast list.
2. Riot Women
The slate identifies Riot Women as a new drama involving Sally Wainwright. That is the firm basis for adding it to a watchlist; the announcement does not establish its plot, cast, episode count, or release date, so a more specific premise cannot be confirmed from that source.

3. Ludwig
Ludwig is one of the slate’s returning titles. BBC Studios does not specify the new-season story, season number, cast changes, or premiere date in the report. Viewers waiting for its return should look for a current BBC programme listing rather than infer a schedule from the financial-year label.
4. Blue Lights
Blue Lights is also listed as returning. The annual report confirms that status but does not give details about the next season’s plot, season number, cast changes, or transmission date.

What “2025/26 slate” means for 2026 viewing
A financial-year slate is not a calendar-year premiere schedule. Inclusion in BBC Studios’ 2025/26 report does not by itself prove that a series premiered, or will premiere, during 2026. The report confirms two returning titles—Ludwig and Blue Lights—and presents the other three as new, but it does not supply precise dates.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
