The sequel to Lord of War is called Lords of War, and it brings Nicolas Cage back as arms dealer Yuri Orlov. Bill Skarsgård joins him as Anton, Yuri’s son, whose plan to build a mercenary army puts father and son on a collision course. The first-look images were set photos published in December 2025—not a trailer.
What the first look at Lords of War shows
The December 2025 first-look report shared photographs from the film’s production. They offer a glimpse of the sequel’s cast and setting, but they are not footage from a trailer. Separate distribution coverage in April 2026 said the first footage was scheduled to debut at CinemaCon 2026; the sources cited here do not confirm whether that screening took place or what was shown.
Beside Productions describes the film as Andrew Niccol’s sequel to his 2005 film Lord of War. Niccol returns as writer-director.

Lord of War (2005) introduced Yuri Orlov; Lords of War shifts the focus to what happens when his son tries to build a legacy of his own in the arms trade.
