For a mostly static Hindi music visual, start with 1080p at 30 fps, H.264 at 10 Mb/s CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, AAC stereo at 128 kb/s and 44.1 kHz, and RTMPS ingest. Loop the visual and audio deliberately, test the exact files and command in YouTube Live Control Room, and confirm you have permission to stream the music.
Recommended FFmpeg settings for a 1080p music loop
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends 10 Mb/s for H.264 at 1080p30, with CBR, two-second keyframes, AAC stereo audio at 128 kb/s and 44.1 kHz, and RTMPS ingest. For a still image or slowly changing artwork, 30 fps is generally the sensible starting point; 60 fps adds little unless the visual has meaningful motion.

These are settings for the incoming encoder feed; YouTube transcodes live streams for viewers. YouTube recommends testing upload speed and selecting a quality your connection can sustain. This example loops a still image and an audio file, encodes 1920Ă—1080 H.264 and AAC, and sends an FLV stream over RTMPS. Replace the endpoint and key placeholders with the values from YouTube Live Control Room.

The GOP settings of 60 frames produce a two-second interval at 30 fps. FFmpeg documents real-time input pacing and looping options; YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval. The command is illustrative, not tested against your particular FFmpeg build or media. A finite still-image input without an active loop should not be assumed to keep a complete broadcast running indefinitely. Check the behavior with your installed FFmpeg and actual files before scheduling a long stream.

Adjust the command for 60 fps or a constrained connection
If the artwork has meaningful motion
For 1080p60 H.264, YouTube’s table lists 6 Mb/s minimum and 17 Mb/s recommended, with 12 Mb/s also given as a recommended value in the table. Use 60 fps only when the motion calls for it and the connection can sustain the chosen bitrate. At 60 fps, set the GOP to 120 frames for a two-second interval.
If upload capacity is limited
Do not choose a bitrate solely because it is listed as recommended. YouTube advises testing the upload connection and choosing a quality it can sustain. If the connection cannot reliably handle the recommended bitrate, lower the bitrate while remaining above the published minimum where possible, or reduce resolution or frame rate. Re-test for stability before the real broadcast.

Set up and verify the live stream
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the stream and copy its stream URL and stream key into the FFmpeg command. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share it. Follow YouTube’s stream setup guidance.
- Check that your FFmpeg build supports
libx264and AAC encoding. Confirm that the input filenames, media formats, and audio channel layout are correct. FFmpeg notes that its libx264 wrapper must be enabled in the build. - Run a test using representative audio and video before the event. YouTube recommends testing before starting the live stream and checking stream-health messages.
- Inspect the Live Control Room preview for framing, continuous audio, and the intended repeat behavior. During the broadcast, monitor audio and video quality and stream health. YouTube advises operators to “Continuously monitor streams for audio and video quality.” See YouTube live streaming tips.
Check music rights before going live
Technical settings do not establish permission to stream or archive a Hindi song. Confirm that you hold the necessary rights or have a suitable licence for the music and any accompanying artwork before broadcasting.
