Bean appears in a photographic history of the club’s 1989–90 season; Heaton described attending matches in a 2005 interview. Other names, including Joe Elliott and Jessica Ennis-Hill, appear in secondary lists, but the evidence for them is less firmly established here—and none of these sources confirms who is actively following the Blades today.
Sean Bean: a documented connection to the Blades
Actor Sean Bean is the clearest historical example. Lower Block’s retrospective on Sheffield United’s 1989–90 promotion season identifies Bean as a supporter and includes him among fans outside the Sportsman pub. Its photographer, Bill Stephenson, described the pictures as intended to show “the club as a cohesive family of passionate fans, players and management.” The photographs place Bean in that community during the season; they do not, by themselves, establish his current match-going habits. Lower Block’s photo-history provides the contemporary visual context.
A separate profile, C.F. Classics, says Bean supported the club from childhood and served as a director for five years in the 2000s. That is a secondary account, and those additional details have not been independently confirmed here. C.F. Classics’ Sheffield United fan list makes the claims.
Paul Heaton: first-person evidence, published in 2005
Paul Heaton, the Beautiful South and former Housemartins lead singer, spoke about football attendance in a FourFourTwo interview first published in October 2005. He described sitting in the main stand with the people he had always sat with, placing himself among ordinary supporters rather than presenting celebrity status as the point of his match-going. Other names found in supporter lists
Joe Elliott, Def Leppard’s singer, and Olympic athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill are both named as Sheffield United fans by C.F. Classics. The material available here does not include comparable first-person statements or official confirmation for either, so these should be treated as reported associations rather than equally verified examples.
C.F. Classics also recounts a stand-naming episode involving Ennis-Hill and a later request to remove her name. Because that account is secondary, it is better not to use the episode as firm evidence of her fandom without stronger reporting. The list also gives its account of the stand episode.

Wikipedia’s Sheffield United supporters list names other public figures, including boxer Kell Brook, golfer Matt Fitzpatrick, quiz-show personality Mark Labbett, actor Michael Palin and cricketer Joe Root. A list entry alone is not strong confirmation of an individual’s support, so these names should be treated as leads rather than a verified roll call. The evidence behind these names is not all the same. A photograph from a particular season documents presence in a fan setting; an interview records what someone said about attending at the time; a secondary list repeats an attribution. None necessarily proves that the person still follows the club or attends matches now. The strongest answer is therefore a short, qualified one: Bean and Heaton have more direct historical support in the material cited here, while other familiar names are reported with less direct evidence.
