It brought native PS5 and Xbox Series X|S apps, graphics and performance options, and platform-specific fixes—not the same upgrade on every console. Support has continued since then, so the 2024 launch features are not the game’s latest changes.
What the April 2024 update added
Bethesda announced the free update on April 11, 2024, and released it on April 25. The company said it included native applications for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Performance and Quality modes, stability improvements, and fixes. Players needed to own Fallout 4 for the relevant next-generation console to download its upgrade. Bethesda’s announcement also covered updates for older consoles, but those were a different package of fixes rather than native current-generation applications.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Bethesda’s April 25 patch notes described these targets and conditions:

These are Bethesda’s patch-note targets, not independent benchmark results. The notes and platform-specific fixes are in the April 25 patch notes.

PS4 and Xbox One
The older consoles received a free update focused on stability, login, and quest fixes. Bethesda did not describe it as a native PS5 or Xbox Series X|S application, and it should not be treated as offering the same next-generation modes.
PC
The PC update added widescreen and ultra-widescreen support, Creation Kit fixes, quest updates, and stability, mod, and bug fixes for Steam, Microsoft Store, and GOG versions. Bethesda also said the game would be Steam Deck verified. Its April 2024 note that the update was not yet available on GOG described the launch moment; it does not establish GOG’s present-day availability.

Free Creation Club content and other fixes
The April update included nine free Creation Club items. New additions included the Enclave Remnants quest, Halloween Workshop, and Makeshift Weapon Pack; the release also bundled previously released items such as the Tesla Cannon and X-02 Power Armor. Bethesda added an Installed Content menu and listed further quest, stability, and platform-specific fixes in the patch notes.
How the console options changed in May 2024
Bethesda’s May 13, 2024 Update 2 added controls for graphics fidelity and performance on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players could choose Visuals or Performance prioritization and select 30, 40, or 60 FPS as the frame-rate target. The 40 FPS option requires a 120 Hz display; Bethesda recommended Performance prioritization when targeting 60 FPS. The settings can be changed from the main menu. See the Update 2 notes.

The same notes identify the builds for that May 2024 update: Xbox Series X|S 1.10.765; PS5 1.10.985; and PC, PS4, and Xbox One 1.10.984. These are historical version numbers, not current version information.
Support continued after the next-gen launch
The 2024 upgrade was one stage in ongoing support, not the latest update. Bethesda’s Fallout 4 patch notes and support page lists an August 18, 2026 update as well as a Creations storage expansion dated May 27, 2026.

May 2026 Creations storage changes
Bethesda lists these storage figures for Creations by platform:

On Xbox, players need to redownload cleared Creations or restore them using a saved load order or a qualifying save. Bethesda’s storage figures and migration guidance are on its support page; they are not a guarantee that every individual Creation will fit within the nominal capacity.

Which edition should you consider now?
Bethesda says Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition includes the base game, all six official expansions, and more than 150 Creation Club items. It launched on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PS5, and PS4 on November 10, 2025. Bethesda announced that it became available on Nintendo Switch 2 on February 24, 2026, and confirmed a physical code-in-box version. On Switch 2, the included Creations are built into the game rather than accessed through a Creations menu.
