El Hospital Erasto Gaertner atribuyó su fallecimiento a complicaciones relacionadas con un trasplante de médula ósea (TMO). El centro señaló que el procedimiento estaba indicado en algunos escenarios para tratar el linfoma de Hodgkin. La formulación fue reproducida por UOL.
La causa comunicada oficialmente es la expresada por el hospital: complicaciones relacionadas con el trasplante. La información disponible no especifica un mecanismo clínico más concreto, por lo que no corresponde describir la muerte simplemente como causada directamente por el cáncer.
El diagnóstico y el trasplante
Según CNN Brasil, Veloso recibió el diagnóstico de linfoma de Hodgkin en octubre de 2021, cuando tenía 15 años. La cadena informó que anunció su remisión en mayo de 2025 y que el trasplante de médula ósea se realizó en octubre de ese año.
