Irene Belserion is an Alvarez Empire member of the Spriggan 12, known as the “Scarlet Despair.” Koei Tecmo’s official FAIRY TAIL 2 profile describes her as a high enchanter who can imbue the earth and atmosphere with magical effects in battle. That source supports several specific details, but not a verified list of ten lesser-known facts; this spoiler-aware guide separates what official profiles establish from what they do not.
What official sources establish about Irene
She belongs to the Spriggan 12
The official FAIRY TAIL 2 character profile lists Irene among the Alvarez Empire’s Spriggan 12. The official Fairy Tail final-series anime character roster also places her in its Alvarez section. These listings confirm her affiliation; the anime roster itself does not provide a full biography.

Her epithet is “Scarlet Despair”
Koei Tecmo’s profile gives Irene the epithet “Scarlet Despair.” It also describes her as regarded as the strongest woman among the Spriggan 12. That is a comparison within that group, not a ranking against every character in Fairy Tail.
Her magic centers on enchantment
The same official profile calls Irene a high enchanter: she can add enchantments to things and fight by imbuing magical effects into the earth and atmosphere. The Japanese profile describes those abilities as “あらゆるものに魔法を付加エンチャントできる高位付加術士ハイエンチャンターで、大地や大気に魔法効果を付与して戦闘する。” This is a description from Koei Tecmo’s profile, not a quote attributed to a character or staff member.

What these profiles do not tell us
The official roster and game profile establish Irene’s group, epithet, relative standing within the Spriggan 12, and broad magical specialty. They do not, by themselves, verify a ten-point biography or provide chapter-level detail about her family history and role in Dragon Slayer Magic. Those plot points need to be checked against the licensed manga or anime itself; extending the official profile beyond its stated information would risk presenting unsupported details as fact.
The reviewed character profiles also provide no attributable numeric statistic about Irene. A precise figure or franchise-wide power ranking should not be inferred from the profile’s group-relative description.

Where to read the source story
Kodansha USA lists the original Fairy Tail manga as complete, with print and digital formats and 63 volumes listed on its catalog page when accessed in 2026. That catalog count can change, and the page does not identify which volume contains Irene’s specific scenes. Consult the manga itself before relying on a volume-specific claim.
