The Watch branding has since been folded into Facebook’s broader video experience. Facebook first replaced the dedicated Watch concept with a Video tab, and in June 2025 it began renaming the Videos tab to Reels while moving toward treating newly posted Facebook videos as Reels.
That does not mean Facebook only shows short, vertical clips. Facebook’s current guidance says Reels may be any length or orientation after the transition, so long-form documentaries, live broadcasts, creator videos, and other programming can still appear in the same broader video ecosystem. Depending on your device, account, language, and rollout status, you may see Reels, Video, or another shortcut rather than a button labeled Watch.
What was Facebook Watch?
Facebook Watch was a dedicated place inside Facebook for finding and following video programming. Its original design included a Watchlist for shows a viewer followed, along with recommendations and a central destination for Facebook video.
For viewers, the practical purpose was similar to a video hub: find programs, follow creators or Pages, watch episodes and other videos, discover live broadcasts, and return to saved or followed content. Facebook also used Watch to promote original shows and other programming hosted on its platform.

Today, “Facebook Watch” is mainly a historical and search term. The functionality has been reorganized rather than simply removed. Facebook first consolidated video into a Video tab, bringing Reels, long-form videos, and Live content together. Facebook later began renaming the Videos tab to Reels in June 2025.
Where did Facebook Watch go?
The former Watch destination went through two major interface changes:
- Watch became part of Facebook’s Video experience. Facebook described the Video tab as the successor to Facebook Watch and used it as a central place for Reels, longer videos, and live content.
- The Video or Videos tab began changing to Reels. Facebook’s June 2025 help guidance says the Videos tab was renamed the Reels tab and that Facebook was moving toward sharing all newly posted videos as Reels.
The word Reels can therefore be misleading if you associate it only with brief, portrait-oriented clips. Under the transition described by Facebook, a Reel may be longer or have a different orientation. The label describes Facebook’s publishing and discovery system, not necessarily the length or shape of every video.
You may still encounter the term Watch in older articles, bookmarks, search results, or references to Facebook’s earlier programming. The current interface, however, may show a Reels or Video shortcut instead.
How to find Facebook videos now
The exact navigation varies by device and account. Facebook personalizes the shortcut bar according to the features a person uses most, and product changes may be introduced gradually. Use the following routes.
On the Facebook mobile app
- Open the Facebook app and sign in.
- Look for Reels or Video in the shortcut bar. On some iPhones, the shortcut bar appears at the bottom; on some Android layouts, it may appear near the top.
- Open the video area and browse the personalized feed.
- Use search within the video or Reels experience, when available, to look for a topic, creator, Page, hashtag, or live broadcast.
- Tap a creator’s name or Page when you want to see more of that creator’s videos.
If you do not see a Reels or Video shortcut, tap Facebook’s main search control and search for the creator, Page, program, topic, or hashtag. You can also open a creator’s Page directly or watch videos that appear in your regular Feed.
On a desktop computer
- Open Facebook in a web browser and sign in.
- Look in the main navigation or shortcut area for Video or Reels.
- Browse the recommended video feed, or use Facebook Search to find a particular subject, creator, Page, hashtag, or broadcast.
- Open a creator or Page to find additional videos from the same source.
Desktop and mobile layouts do not always use the same labels. A missing Watch button does not necessarily indicate a problem with your account or with Facebook video.

What can you watch on Facebook?
Facebook’s current video ecosystem can include:
- Creator videos: videos published by individual creators, public figures, organizations, and Pages.
- Reels: Facebook’s current publishing and discovery format, which may include videos of different lengths and orientations.
- Long-form video: longer programs, interviews, explainers, documentary-style material, and other extended videos when creators or Pages publish them.
- Live broadcasts: real-time or previously recorded live streams from creators, Pages, organizations, and events.
- Recommended Instagram Reels: some public Instagram Reels may be recommended on Facebook when the creator permits recommendation and the accounts or services are connected appropriately.
- Videos shared by friends and family: videos can also reach you through Feed, groups, Pages, messages, or direct shares.
Availability depends on the creator’s audience settings, location, rights arrangements, account status, and whether the content is still online. A video that appeared in an older Watch guide may have been deleted, restricted, renamed, or moved to a creator’s Page.

How Facebook chooses recommended videos
The video and Reels feed is personalized rather than a single identical catalog shown to everyone. Facebook says recommendations may be influenced by:
- videos and Reels you watch;
- how long you watch them;
- likes, comments, and shares;
- creators or Pages you follow;
- trending content;
- your location and the time of day; and
- feedback such as marking a recommendation as interesting or unsuitable.
To influence the recommendations, open the options menu on a video or Reel. Depending on the interface and content, you may see choices such as Interested, Not interested, or Hide. These choices gradually affect future recommendations, although the effect may weaken or change as your viewing activity changes.
It is also important to distinguish between content Facebook allows on the platform and content it recommends. Meta applies additional recommendation standards intended to reduce the distribution of low-quality, objectionable, sensitive, misleading, or otherwise unsuitable material. A video can therefore remain available while appearing less often in recommendations.
How to save a Facebook video or Reel
Saving a video is different from simply watching it. A saved item is a deliberate bookmark for returning later.
- Open the video or Reel.
- Open its options menu, usually represented by three dots or a similar control.
- Select Save Video or Save Reel, depending on the content and current interface.
To find saved or liked videos later, open your profile and look for the Videos or Reels area. Facebook may separate saved items from liked items, and the exact path can vary by app version.
If you cannot find an item you saved, check that you are using the same Facebook account, search the profile’s saved section rather than the liked section, and remember that the original video may have been deleted or its audience may have changed.

How to find your Facebook watch history
Facebook’s Activity Log can contain records of videos you watched. This is separate from your saved videos and separate from videos you liked.
- Open your Facebook profile.
- Open Activity Log.
- Filter the activity by type or category.
- Choose the category for Videos watched, or a similarly named video-activity option.
Facebook says your watch history is not visible to other people. That privacy protection does not apply automatically to every form of interaction. A like, comment, Page follow, or share may be visible to other people according to the relevant audience and privacy settings.

In short:
| Action | Where it is managed | What others may see |
|---|---|---|
| Watching a video | Activity Log | Facebook says the watch history itself is not visible to other people. |
| Saving a video | Saved items or the profile’s video area | Usually treated as a private management action, subject to Facebook’s current settings. |
| Liking or commenting | The video’s interaction controls | May be visible according to the post and account audience. |
| Sharing a video | The share composer and destination | Visible to the audience selected for the share. |
| Following a creator or Page | Following settings and the creator or Page | May be visible depending on profile and privacy settings. |
How to find Facebook Live videos
Live video may appear in the general video or Reels experience, in Feed, on a creator’s Page, or through search. On desktop, Facebook’s documented route has been to open Video from the Feed area and then choose Live.
- Open Facebook’s Video or Reels area, if it is available.
- Choose Live when that filter or tab appears.
- Search for a subject, creator, Page, event, or specific broadcast if you are looking for something particular.
Not every account will see an identical Live tab. Live broadcasts may also stop being available after the broadcast ends, or the creator may limit who can view the recording.
Captions, translations, and original audio
Some Facebook videos and Reels offer captions, translations, or voice-translation controls. These options are content- and account-dependent; not every video has them.
While watching a video:
- Open the video settings or options menu.
- Look for Captions and translations, Captions, or a similarly named option.
- Turn captions on if they are available.
- If Facebook offers voice translation and you prefer the original-language audio, choose the option to turn voice translations off.
Menu names, available languages, caption quality, and translation behavior can vary by video, creator, device, and rollout. Captions generated automatically may contain errors, especially with accents, background noise, specialist terms, or multiple speakers.

If you want to reduce unwanted playback or data use, open Facebook’s settings and look for the video, media, or autoplay controls. Depending on the app version, you may be able to control whether videos autoplay, whether they autoplay only on Wi-Fi, and whether sound starts automatically.
Also check your phone’s own volume, mute switch, battery-saving mode, and mobile-data settings. Facebook’s controls cannot override every device-level restriction.

Work through these checks in order before assuming that Facebook Watch or Facebook’s video service has disappeared.
If you cannot find the Watch, Video, or Reels button
- Check the shortcut bar for either Reels or Video; the label may have changed.
- Use Facebook Search to find the creator, Page, topic, or video directly.
- Open a video from your Feed and then visit the creator’s profile or Page.
- Update the Facebook app or refresh the browser.
- Check whether you are signed into the intended account.
- Remember that shortcut tabs are personalized and can differ by device, account, language, and staged rollout.
If a video loads but will not play
- Check your Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection.
- Try another video to determine whether the problem affects one item or all videos.
- Refresh the page or fully close and reopen the app.
- Install available Facebook app, browser, and operating-system updates.
- Check that the device is not muted and that the video’s own sound control is enabled.
- Temporarily test without a browser extension that blocks scripts, media, or advertisements, if applicable.
- Try Facebook in another supported browser or on another network.
If only one video fails, it may have been removed, restricted, made private, or affected by a rights or regional limitation. If all video playback is slow on a Windows computer even after the basic checks above, a general PC and browser-performance troubleshooting resource may be relevant, but it is optional and is not required to use Facebook video.
If the slowdown extends beyond Facebook, Outbyte PC Repair is an optional Windows troubleshooting resource to consider, not a requirement for using Facebook video.
If recommendations seem unrelated
- Use Not interested or Hide on recommendations you do not want.
- Follow creators and Pages that consistently publish the subjects you want.
- Search for specific topics instead of relying only on the recommendation feed.
- Avoid repeatedly opening videos that you do not actually want recommended; watch time and other signals can influence future suggestions.
Facebook Watch, saved videos, and watch history are not the same
These terms often get mixed together:
- Facebook Watch: the former name of Facebook’s dedicated video destination.
- Video or Reels: the current, evolving place where Facebook surfaces many types of video.
- Saved videos: videos you deliberately bookmarked for later.
- Liked videos: videos with which you explicitly interacted using Like.
- Watched-video history: Activity Log records of videos Facebook says you watched.
Finding a video in your watch history does not mean it was saved. Conversely, a saved video may not appear as a complete record of everything you watched. Use Saved items when you are trying to return to a video, and use Activity Log when you are trying to review viewing activity.
What to expect from Facebook’s changing video labels
Facebook continues to consolidate its video products, so the same feature may not have the same name everywhere. One person may see Reels, another may see Video, and an older guide may refer to Watch. The underlying discovery routes remain broadly similar: use the video shortcut when available, search Facebook, open creators or Pages directly, and find videos through Feed.
For documentary viewers, the most useful approach is to search by the filmmaker, Page, subject, series, or hashtag rather than relying on the old Watch label. For live events, use the Live filter or search. For videos you want to revisit, save them immediately rather than assuming you will be able to recover them from history later.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Facebook Watch still available?
The original Facebook Watch branding and dedicated destination have largely been folded into Facebook’s broader video experience. Depending on your device and account, you may now see Video or Reels instead of Watch.
Are Facebook Reels only short vertical videos?
No. Facebook’s June 2025 transition guidance says videos can be shared as Reels regardless of length or orientation. The Reels label does not automatically mean that every video is short or vertical.
Can my Facebook friends see everything I watch?
Facebook says your watch history is not visible to other people. However, likes, comments, Page follows, and shares may be visible according to the relevant audience and privacy settings.
How do I save a Facebook video to watch later?
Open the video, open its options menu, and choose Save Video or Save Reel. Saved and liked videos can generally be found later through your profile’s Videos or Reels area, although labels vary by app version.
Why can’t I find the Facebook Watch icon?
The shortcut may have been renamed to Video or Reels, removed from your personalized shortcut bar, or not yet rolled out in the same way on your device. Search for the video or creator, open a video from Feed, or visit the creator’s Page directly.
The Bottom Line
Facebook Watch has evolved rather than simply vanished. Look for Facebook’s Reels or Video experience, use Search or creator Pages when the shortcut is missing, and remember that the current system can include long-form videos and Live content as well as short clips. Saved videos, liked videos, and watched-video history are separate features, and watching something is not the same as publicly liking, commenting on, or sharing it.
