Apple later reported more than $630 million in worldwide box office, while a comparable total for the earlier Apple film slate is not established in the available figures.
Did F1 really outgross every previous Apple movie combined?
That was the direction of a June 29, 2025, 9to5Mac forecast, written as the film opened in theaters. Writer Benjamin Mayo said the estimated debut “sets the movie on a path to exceed the gross box office of all previous Apple films … combined.” It was a projection based on the opening weekend, not a later finding that the comparison had been proven.

Apple subsequently reported that the film had passed $629 million worldwide in an October 13, 2025, streaming-date announcement. Apple’s current film information page says it has surpassed $630 million. Those figures establish the film’s reported scale, but not whether it exceeded the combined theatrical gross of every earlier Apple Original Film.
A definitive comparison requires a consistent list of films and comparable lifetime theatrical grosses. The earlier releases had different distribution patterns, including limited theatrical runs, and the sources cited here do not provide a primary-source combined total for the full slate. The claim therefore remains unconfirmed on the available figures; it should not be presented as a settled box-office record.

How much did F1: The Movie make?
Apple’s official film page currently reports more than $630 million worldwide. Apple TV Press had reported more than $629 million in its October 13, 2025, announcement that the film would begin streaming on Apple TV. These are Apple-reported figures, not an independently audited total.
The opening-weekend numbers vary slightly by report and should be kept distinct. On June 29, 9to5Mac cited an estimated $145 million worldwide opening, including $55.6 million in North America. The Associated Press reported studio estimates of $144 million worldwide and $55.6 million in North America. The difference between the global estimates does not change the broader point: the film opened at a scale that made it a standout among Apple’s theatrical releases.

Why the opening mattered
F1: The Movie opened theatrically on June 27, 2025. The Associated Press described its $55.6 million North American opening as a record debut for an Apple film. Formula One World Championship Limited later said the movie had surpassed $600 million at the box office and had become the highest-grossing Apple film to date.

The film’s setting and production helped distinguish it from a conventional racing drama. Apple describes the story as following Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, a former F1 prospect returning decades after a crash to help the struggling fictional team APXGP. He joins rookie Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris; Javier Bardem plays team owner Ruben Cervantes. Joseph Kosinski directed.
Apple says filming took place at real Formula 1 events during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, including at Spa-Francorchamps, Mexico City, Monza, Silverstone, the Hungaroring, Suzuka, Zandvoort and Abu Dhabi, as well as at Daytona. Formula One’s 2025 midseason review reported more than 185 hours of footage shot across Grands Prix, more than 2,000 hours of F1 broadcast footage recorded for the movie, and 1,900 crew members involved in production, with roughly 400 at each race. These production details help explain the film’s access to racing environments; they do not make it a documentary.
