Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson divorced in 1996 but remained publicly close for decades. Their shared home and familiar image as unusually friendly ex-spouses changed in 2025. That shift has prompted fresh questions about their relationship, but it does not establish that they have stopped speaking: the latest no-contact claim found in October 2026 could not be verified.
Why were Andrew and Sarah Ferguson known as a friendly divorced couple?
Their relationship did not follow the usual public script for a divorced couple. Andrew and Ferguson married in 1986, separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996. In the years afterward, they were still seen as close, continued to co-parent their daughters publicly and holidayed together, according to CNN’s October 31, 2025 account.
That closeness was reflected in their living arrangements as well as their public image: the former couple continued sharing Royal Lodge until 2025, Reuters reported in February 2026. Their shared home became a defining part of the way people understood their post-divorce relationship.

The arrangement ended in 2025. Reuters reported that Ferguson would make her own arrangements, but did not confirm where she lives now. CNN’s October 31, 2025 report said she had not publicly commented on her eviction or next home; that is a snapshot from that date, not a current housing update.

Andrew said he would no longer use his titles and honours
In a statement published by the Royal Family on October 17, 2025, Andrew said: “I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.” The statement also said: “As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.” Those are Andrew’s statements, not an adjudication of the allegations.
The change to his titles and the end of their shared residence altered the circumstances surrounding the former couple. Neither fact, by itself, confirms that their private friendship ended.

Does this mean they are no longer speaking?
That is not established. An October 7, 2026 Yahoo News Malaysia search-result excerpt says the pair are “reportedly no longer speaking,” but the article could not be accessed and the claim could not be corroborated. It should be treated as unverified, not as a confirmed announcement or fact about their private contact.
There is, however, commentary that their former public image has changed. In January 2026, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Marie Claire: “It will be a very substantial change from the image of this idea that they were the world’s most friendly divorced couple.” That is his assessment of their public image—not direct evidence that the two are estranged.
