What happens in the Season 5 premiere?
In “Founders’ Day,” a catastrophic sinkhole opens beneath Edgewater, trapping residents underground. Station 42 is forced into a high-stakes rescue. That is the confirmed setup for the premiere, not a description of the entire season.
What do we know about later Season 5 episodes?
An official CBS Studios result lists a later episode, “Winners and Losers,” with a release item dated October 23, 2026. Its synopsis describes mounting financial pressure at Station 42 and Bode’s effort to demonstrate that Edgewater’s new volunteer firefighting program can make a difference. The listing provides a glimpse of another story, but does not establish the season’s full arc.

What is confirmed—and what is still unknown?
Official listings establish the premiere date and time, the opener’s title and sinkhole-rescue setup, and one later episode synopsis. Paramount Global Content catalogs 72 episodes across Seasons 1–4; it does not state a year for that figure.
The official information available does not establish Season 5’s episode count, a complete episode schedule, the season-long storyline, or a comprehensive list of cast changes. Those details should not be inferred from the premiere disaster or the later episode synopsis.
