The order is the left-to-right sequence given in Town & Country’s contemporary balcony guide; Harper’s Bazaar’s report also identifies the group. Two attendees were named Prince Edward: the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duke of Kent.
When was Trooping the Colour 2024?
The King’s Birthday Parade took place on Saturday, 15 June 2024, to mark King Charles III’s official birthday. The Royal Family’s event report says Number 9 Company Irish Guards trooped its Colour that year. The Princess of Wales travelled with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis; the Prince of Wales, the Princess Royal and the Duke of Edinburgh attended on horseback.
What happened at the balcony appearance?
After the parade and royal procession, the royal party gathered on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the Royal Air Force flypast. The Royal Family’s explainer of Trooping the Colour describes the customary sequence: the Sovereign takes the salute at the Palace, the family appears on the balcony, and an RAF flypast follows.

The 15-person group was comparatively small; it should not be read as a list of every member of the extended royal family. Town & Country noted Lady Louise Windsor’s appearance as an addition to the previous year’s balcony group.
