The Ten-Tails jinchuriki is Madara Uchiha’s strongest major combat form. Before reaching it, he fights first as a reanimated shinobi, then returns to a living body and recovers powers that make him more dangerous still. This ranking follows that progression, comparing what each state lets him do and the opponents he faces—not an official power scale. The official Naruto sources describe events and abilities, but do not publish a definitive ranking.
What counts as a Madara “form”?
Here, a form means a distinct combat state tied to Madara’s body or the power he has acquired. It does not mean every technique he uses. That distinction matters: Complete Body Susanoo is a devastating expression of his abilities, but it is not a separate chronological transformation. The ranking therefore tracks his major states during the Fourth Shinobi World War and discusses Susanoo where it belongs.
The later states build on earlier ones, and the boundaries between them are not always clean. The order below reflects demonstrated power, durability, available abilities, and story context. A favorable or unfavorable matchup can affect what a character accomplishes in a scene, so an encounter alone is not a universal measure of strength.
Madara’s major combat states, ranked
1. Ten-Tails jinchuriki Madara
After gathering the tailed beasts and becoming the Ten-Tails’ jinchuriki, Madara reaches the highest point in this ranking. The official episode summary for “The Two Mangekyo” identifies him as the Ten-Tails jinchuriki and says Kakashi and the others are no match for him in that encounter. That is strong story evidence of the scale of this state, though it is not a numerical comparison with every opponent in the series.

This form ranks first because it combines Madara’s existing combat ability with the Ten-Tails’ power and the exceptional threat the story assigns him. His plan had been to revive the Ten-Tails, become its jinchuriki, and place the world under genjutsu, as the official summary for “Declaration of War” explains. 2. Revived Madara with recovered Rinnegan, Sage chakra, and tailed-beast power
Madara’s return to a living body marks a major change from his reanimated state. The official 20th-anniversary retrospective describes him regaining his real body, taking Sage chakra from Hashirama, regaining one Rinnegan, collecting the tailed beasts, and extracting Kurama from Naruto. These gains place the revived, enhanced Madara above the earlier reanimated version in this ranking.

This is best understood as a progression rather than a perfectly isolated form: his body and powers change as the conflict unfolds, eventually leading into the Ten-Tails jinchuriki state. The retrospective supports the sequence of events, but does not assign a formal rank or quantify each power increase. The official retrospective, published December 8, 2022, recounts this part of Madara’s return.
3. Revived Madara in his living body, before the full late-war power-up
Even before the later recovery of his Rinnegan and the gathering of tailed-beast power, a living Madara is a substantial threat. The key distinction is that this is no longer the reanimated body he used earlier in the war: the official retrospective describes him regaining his real body and then accumulating additional power.

This entry is placed below the enhanced revived state because it isolates the return to life from the subsequent gains. It is an editorial way to make a complicated sequence easier to compare, not a claim that the story presents a clean, named transformation at every step.
4. Reanimated Madara
Madara first returns to the battlefield through the Reanimation Jutsu. In this state he demonstrates the scale of his combat abilities against the Allied Shinobi Forces and the Five Kage. The official summary for “Reanimation Jutsu: Release” specifically records his use of Complete Body Susanoo against the Five Kage, making that ability one of the clearest examples of his power during the reanimation conflict. Complete Body Susanoo is not ranked as a separate body transformation here. It is a major ability Madara deploys within a combat state. That distinction avoids treating a technique as though it were a new chronological version of Madara, while still recognizing its immense impact in the battle.

The official sources establish the story’s sequence and identify notable abilities, but they do not publish a definitive list of Madara forms or assign power scores. The ranking uses the progression they describe and weighs demonstrated capability alongside the narrative context of his opponents. Because some abilities overlap with the stages of his return, the middle entries are organizing categories rather than names for a formal canon chart.
