No Time to Die moves its story through places including Jamaica, Cuba and Norway, but its filming geography is different: production work took place in southern Italy, Jamaica, Norway, Scotland, the Faroe Islands, London and at Pinewood Studios in England. Some scenes combine locations, and others use purpose-built sets, so a place shown on screen is not necessarily where it was filmed.
Story settings and filming locations are not the same
The clearest example is the Cuba-set sequence. Director Cary Joji Fukunaga said the production did not film in Cuba; instead, the sequence was shot across Norway, Scotland and England. The fictional setting tells you where the action takes place in the story, while the filming location identifies where the production captured it.
The same distinction matters for Norway: the production filmed there, but parts of the Scottish Highlands also stood in for Norway. And scenes that appear to take place in a real city may have been built on a studio stage or backlot.
Where the film was shot
| Region | Story connection | Confirmed production location or work |
|---|---|---|
| Southern Italy | Italian locations appear in the film’s story. | Matera is identified as a filming location by Kodak’s production feature. Kodak Motion Picture |
| Jamaica | Bond retires there in the story. | Kodak identifies Jamaica and Kingston Container Terminal among the production locations. Kodak Motion Picture |
| Norway | Some sequences are set in or evoke Norway. | Filming took place near Langvann outside Oslo and along the Atlantic Ocean Road; Kodak also describes snowy countryside and frozen lakes around Nittedal. Norwegian Film Commission; Kodak Motion Picture |
| Scotland | At least one sequence uses the Highlands to represent Norway. | Ardverikie Estate doubled for Norway, and Kodak also names Cairngorms National Park. Screen Scotland; Kodak Motion Picture |
| Faroe Islands | Associated in secondary location listings with Safin’s island. | Kodak lists the Faroe Islands as a filming region. IMDb’s user-contributed listing associates Kalsoy with the island location, but that specific identification is less firmly sourced. Kodak Motion Picture; IMDb locations |
| London | London features as a story location. | Kodak describes filming at central London landmarks. IMDb’s user-contributed listing names places including Whitehall, The Mall, Carlton House Terrace, Horse Guards Avenue, Hammersmith Bridge, Westminster and the Thames riverbank; individual scene associations should be treated as secondary reporting. Kodak Motion Picture; IMDb locations |
| Pinewood Studios, England | Studio-built environments depict locations in the story. | Kodak reports that Safin’s lair was built on the 007 Stage and that Havana chase sets were constructed on the backlot. Kodak Motion Picture |
How to read the Norway and Scotland locations
Norway was a filming location in its own right, not just a landscape represented elsewhere. The Norwegian Film Commission identifies the pre-title sequence near Langvann, outside Oslo, and action along the Atlantic Ocean Road. Kodak additionally describes winter countryside and frozen lakes around Nittedal.

Separately, Screen Scotland identifies Ardverikie Estate in the Highlands as a stand-in for Norway. These are two different production facts: some footage was made in Norway, and Scottish scenery was used to represent it in another sequence.
Italy, Jamaica and the film’s other real-world settings
Matera is the strongest specifically named southern Italian filming location in the production accounts cited here. Jamaica has a dual connection: it is both a story setting for Bond’s retirement and a production location, with Kodak naming Kingston Container Terminal.

The Faroe Islands and London are also identified as filming regions by Kodak. More granular claims—such as linking a particular island or street to a particular scene—rely in part on user-contributed location listings rather than the same level of institutional or production documentation.
Why some places on screen were built at Pinewood
Location photography was only one part of the production. Kodak’s account describes substantial construction at Pinewood Studios: Safin’s lair occupied the 007 Stage, while the Havana chase used backlot sets. A convincing screen depiction of a real place therefore does not establish that the crew filmed in that place.

Kodak reports that principal photography began in March 2019 and wrapped 122 shooting days later, at the end of October 2019. That is a production schedule, not a count of locations. The same feature describes the film’s cinematography as 35mm, widescreen 2.40:1 anamorphic; that format detail concerns how the movie was photographed, not a particular home-video edition.

The confirmed country- and region-level picture spans southern Italy, Jamaica, Norway, Scotland, the Faroe Islands, London and Pinewood Studios. It is a useful map of the production, not an exhaustive street-by-street inventory. Some precise London and Faroe Islands scene identifications come from user-contributed listings, while the production and film-body sources establish the broader location picture.
