Apple has confirmed six returning core characters for Ted Lasso season 4: Ted Lasso, Rebecca Welton, Roy Kent, Coach Beard, Keeley Jones, and Leslie Higgins. The list reflects Apple’s official announcements, not unverified reports about the wider former cast.
The six characters Apple has confirmed for Ted Lasso season 4
Apple has confirmed six returning core characters for Ted Lasso season 4: Ted Lasso, Rebecca Welton, Roy Kent, Coach Beard, Keeley Jones, and Leslie Higgins.
That list uses a narrow standard: a character counts as confirmed only when Apple’s official season 4 announcements explicitly identify the performer as returning. It does not include every character from the first three seasons, nor does it treat unverified reports of guest appearances as confirmed news.
1. Ted Lasso — Jason Sudeikis
Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted Lasso, the central character and namesake of the series. Apple identifies Sudeikis as season 4’s star and executive producer and says that Ted returns to Richmond.

Ted’s season 4 challenge is different from the one he faced with Richmond’s men’s team. He is coaching a newly formed second-division women’s football team at AFC Richmond, putting his familiar optimism and coaching philosophy into a new competitive and personal setting.
2. Rebecca Welton — Hannah Waddingham
Hannah Waddingham is returning as Rebecca Welton, AFC Richmond’s owner. Apple specifically names Waddingham among the returning fan favorites.
Rebecca remains connected to the club as Richmond moves into its women’s-team storyline. Her return gives the new season a direct link to the business, relationships, and emotional history that shaped the original ensemble.
3. Roy Kent — Brett Goldstein
Brett Goldstein returns as Roy Kent. Roy’s return is particularly significant because he was Richmond’s head coach at the end of season 3.
With Ted now coaching the club’s second-division women’s team, season 4 can explore how Roy’s coaching role and Ted’s new assignment fit together. Apple’s announcement confirms Goldstein’s return, although it does not provide a complete season 4 plot outline for Roy.
4. Coach Beard, also known as Willis Beard — Brendan Hunt
Brendan Hunt is returning as Coach Beard, also known in the series as Willis Beard. Apple’s season 4 releases name Hunt among the returning performers, while established series credits identify the character as Coach Beard.

- Soft warm acrylic knit in classic AFC Richmond team colors of red + blue | Substantial weight that drapes + holds its shape
- AFC Richmond team name + mock club crest jacquard knitted into both sides, so the scarf reads right whichever way it hangs
- This scarf measures over 5 feet long with soft fringes at either end | Wraps once around the neck with room to spare, or hang it on the wall as a classic Greyhounds collectible
- Hand wash is recommended and ready for cold weather | One size fits adult Men + Women, and it packs down small for the Stadium or a watch party
- Authentic fan scarf, as worn by Greyhounds supporters at Nelson Road and everywhere | A great gift idea for the AFC Richmond fan or the Greyhounds believer in your life!
Beard’s return preserves the coaching connection at the heart of Ted Lasso. As Richmond enters a new phase, his long-running partnership with Ted remains one of the clearest links to the show’s original structure.
5. Keeley Jones — Juno Temple
Juno Temple returns as Keeley Jones, another of the five returning fan favorites explicitly named by Apple alongside Sudeikis.

Keeley is part of the Richmond leadership and the women’s-team direction established at the end of season 3. Her return helps carry the show’s professional and personal storylines into the new football setup rather than treating the women’s team as an entirely separate series.
6. Leslie Higgins — Jeremy Swift
Jeremy Swift returns as Leslie Higgins. Higgins remains the Richmond club-management figure familiar from the original ensemble; he has been associated with the director-of-football-operations role.
His confirmation matters because Higgins represents the day-to-day organizational side of AFC Richmond. The club’s move into a women’s second-division team storyline still has to operate within the Richmond structure that Higgins helped manage in earlier seasons.
Who is not officially confirmed as returning?
Apple’s official announcements do not confirm every former regular from seasons 1–3. In particular, readers should not treat the following characters as officially confirmed season 4 returns based on the available announcement:

- Perfect graphic apparel for fans of Soccer, EPL, Comedy, Coaching, Biscuits with the Boss, Goldfish, Funny Shirts, Positivity, and Football Culture.
- Lightweight, Classic fit, Double-needle sleeve and bottom hem
- Nate Shelley, played by Nick Mohammed
- Sam Obisanya, played by Toheeb Jimoh
- Jamie Tartt, played by Phil Dunster
Some secondary entertainment reports have included former Richmond players or other familiar names in season 4 cast discussions. However, those reports conflict with or go beyond Apple’s official cast language. TVLine’s season 4 cast summary likewise identifies the six returning series regulars—Sudeikis, Waddingham, Temple, Goldstein, Hunt, and Swift—and notes that previous regulars such as Dunster, Mohammed, and Jimoh were not included in the announced cast list.
That does not prove that no former character can appear in any capacity. A surprise appearance, guest role, or later episode credit would be a separate matter. Until Apple or a specific official episode credit confirms one, those possibilities should be described as unconfirmed, not as returning cast members.
What about Henry Lasso?
Henry Lasso, Ted’s son, is a special case. Contemporary cast reporting identifies Grant Feely as taking over the established role, previously played by Gus Turner. This indicates a continuing character with a recast performer rather than a wholly new character.
Apple’s January season 4 material also includes an image caption naming Annette Badland, Grant Feely, and Jason Sudeikis in season 4 material. That supports Henry’s presence in the continuing story world, but it does not expand Apple’s explicitly announced list of returning fan favorites. For that reason, Henry should be discussed separately from the six-character answer.

Apple separately identifies the following performers as new season 4 additions:
- Tanya Reynolds
- Jude Mack
- Faye Marsay
- Rex Hayes
- Aisling Sharkey
- Abbie Hern
- Grant Feely
Grant Feely is the exception in practical terms because he is associated with the continuing role of Henry Lasso. Even so, he should not be folded into the six-character returning-favorites list: Apple presents him as a new addition to the season’s cast, while the Henry role is being recast.

Why these returning characters matter in season 4
Season 4 shifts the football focus from AFC Richmond’s men’s side to a newly formed women’s team competing in the second division. The six confirmed returns form the bridge between the show’s original ensemble and that new premise:
- Ted takes on the new coaching challenge.
- Roy brings his recent experience as Richmond’s head coach.
- Beard continues the coaching connection with Ted.
- Rebecca remains the club owner.
- Keeley remains part of Richmond’s leadership and evolving team story.
- Higgins represents the club’s continuing management structure.
In other words, season 4 is not simply a repetition of the season 3 setup. The returning characters anchor AFC Richmond while Ted’s new women’s-team assignment gives the series a different competitive environment and a fresh group of football stories.
When did Ted Lasso season 4 premiere?
Season 4 premiered globally on August 5, 2026, with new episodes scheduled weekly through October 7, 2026. The confirmed-cast information here reflects Apple’s official production and premiere announcements as of August 11, 2026.
The confirmed season 4 returnees at a glance
| Character | Actor | Season 4 status |

| Roy Kent | Brett Goldstein | Confirmed returning |
| Coach Beard / Willis Beard | Brendan Hunt | Confirmed returning |
| Keeley Jones | Juno Temple | Confirmed returning |

Bottom line: Using Apple’s explicit confirmation standard, six core characters are confirmed to return for Ted Lasso season 4: Ted, Rebecca, Roy, Coach Beard, Keeley, and Higgins. Nate, Sam, Jamie, and other former regulars should not be presented as confirmed returns without a later official announcement or episode credit.
