What does the title mean?
Church described the title as a tension between creative expression and the forces shaping modern life. In MCA’s April 29, 2025 coverage of his Sunday TODAY interview, he said: “The ‘machine’ is consumption; the ‘machine’ is the world we live in… it’s kind of creativity versus the machine, and ‘Evangeline’ represents that creativity.”
What is the track list?
The album has eight songs, in this official order:
- “Hands Of Time”
- “Bleed On Paper”
- “Johnny”
- “Storm In Their Blood”
- “Darkest Hour”
- “Evangeline”
- “Rocket’s White Lincoln”
- “Clap Hands”
What are the stories behind “Darkest Hour” and “Johnny”?
“Darkest Hour”
MCA said the song was released ahead of the album to support relief after Hurricane Helene, with Church’s publishing royalties donated to support North Carolina.

“Johnny”
MCA described “Johnny” as inspired by “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and the Covenant School tragedy. These are the contexts identified in the label’s announcement.
Can you get the album on CD or vinyl?
Church’s official store lists the album on CD and provides the track list. MCA also announced an Amazon Music exclusive translucent light blue vinyl edition in March 2025. That announcement confirms the edition was offered at the time, not that it is currently in stock. Check the relevant retailer for present availability and price.

Is Comes Alive the same album?
No. Evangeline vs. The Machine is the 2025 studio album. Church’s official discography lists Evangeline vs. The Machine: Comes Alive (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) separately as a 2026 release; it is a later live soundtrack, not another name for the studio album.
