Emma Watkins narrates A Dream for Every Night, a 40-story Audible Original released on 28 October 2024. The collection moves through animal tales, funny farm stories, underwater explorations and horse-riding adventures, with audio storytelling intended to help children shift from playtime to bedtime.
What is A Dream for Every Night?
It is a children’s audiobook narrated by Australian entertainer Emma Watkins. PerthNow reported its launch on 28 October 2024 as an Audible Original; ABC Entertainment described it in November as a collection of 40 animal stories. The reported story settings and themes include comic farm tales, underwater adventures and horse-riding.
An Audible catalog search-result entry described the title as unabridged and listed a runtime of 3 hours 30 minutes and a release date of 28 October 2024. The product page itself could not be retrieved, so the runtime and current listing details should be treated as provisional rather than guaranteed.
Why was it made for bedtime?
The project’s stated aim is to encourage children’s creativity and imagination and make the transition from playtime to bedtime easier through storytelling. That describes the intention behind the collection, not a demonstrated effect: the launch coverage and interview do not report a study showing that listening improves sleep or child development.

Watkins told ABC she was attracted by the combination of animals, comedy, funny voices and sounds. She also described audio as a way for families to share stories and give children a screen-free opportunity to imagine what a story looks like, or act it out with toys and things around them.
In PerthNow’s launch coverage, Watkins said: “It’s been such a joy to be part of this Audible Original, encouraging creativity and growing children’s imaginations.” She also said she hoped the stories might become part of families’ nighttime routines.

Where can families listen?
ABC reported on 15 November 2024 that the audiobook was available on Audible. That is a dated availability report, not confirmation that the title is currently accessible in every country or Audible catalog. Check the local Audible service for the current listing and terms.
PerthNow’s 2024 launch article also said Audible had announced children’s profiles, allowing parents or caregivers to share curated audio titles in a parent-controlled space in the app. This describes the feature as reported at launch; app features and controls may change, so consult Audible’s current help information before relying on it.

What the reporting does—and does not—establish
The reports establish the narrator, 40-story count, broad animal-centered themes, launch date and intended bedtime use. They do not establish measurable sleep, developmental or other health benefits. Watkins’s comments about imagination and screen-free listening are her perspective on the project, not clinical findings.
