Emily Stofle filed for divorce from filmmaker David Lynch in late November 2023, according to contemporaneous reporting by PAP. The filing reportedly sought legal and physical custody of their daughter, Lula, along with spousal support and attorney fees. Those were requests in the petition, not outcomes shown to have been ordered by a court.
What Emily Stofle reportedly requested
PAP reported that Stofle’s petition asked for legal and physical custody of Lula, spousal support, and payment of her attorneys’ fees. The report describes what she sought in the filing; it does not establish that a judge granted those requests.

David Lynch died in January 2025. In August 2026, MyNewsLA reported that Lula’s guardian ad litem had asked a judge to decide whether child-support payments connected to the divorce judgment should be treated as a debt payable from Lynch’s trust or charged to Lula’s subtrust. The report described disagreement involving the trustee, Lynch’s adult children, and Emily Lynch.
In September 2026, MyNewsLA reported that the parties had resolved differences in mediation and sought judicial approval of a settlement in the related trust matter. Its report listed a November 12 hearing. These reports concern allocation of support obligations in a trust dispute; they do not establish the divorce judgment’s effective date or independently settle the divorce’s final status.
