Elvis Crespo is not Rosalía’s father: the claim was a resemblance-based social-media joke, and Crespo dismissed it with humor in January 2022. He posted a face-morph video that transformed his face into hers, captioned, according to People en Español: “OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: La [Rosalía] is not my daughter. 🤷🏻♀️😅”
What was the rumor about Elvis Crespo and Rosalía?
People online joked that the Puerto Rican merengue singer Elvis Crespo was the Spanish singer Rosalía’s father because the two looked alike. Reports described memes and tweets comparing their features, not evidence of a family relationship.

On January 6, 2022, Metro Puerto Rico reported that Crespo clarified the rumor on Instagram. The outlet reproduced his misspelled caption as “Cominicado oficial: La Rosalía no es m hija”.
How did Crespo deny it?
In a TikTok video reported by People en Español on January 12, 2022, a face-morph effect changed Crespo’s face into Rosalía’s. He played along with the resemblance in the caption: “OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: La [Rosalía] is not my daughter. 🤷🏻♀️😅” The wording here is the English translation reproduced by the outlet; its report does not provide an official transcript of the original video.

Remezcla’s January 2022 report also covered the transformation and linked to the Instagram post and TikTok video. The joke was the point: Crespo was not announcing a family connection, but dismissing the rumor prompted by their perceived resemblance.

Crespo embraced the comparison in a 2025 interview
In an interview reported by Us Weekly en Español on October 28, 2025, Crespo praised Rosalía and joked that being compared to her made him feel handsome: “La carátula está bellísima, la versión mayor de los éxitos. Es muy bella, talentosa. Así que cada vez que me dicen que me parezco a ella, yo digo: wow, qué lindo soy, ¡qué guapo!” The outlet described the resemblance meme as circulating in 2023 and noted that Rosalía reacted with laughter to a post in March 2024. That later attention was a revival of the look-alike joke, distinct from Crespo’s 2022 denial.

His 2026 duet comment was not an announcement
On September 4, 2026, RTVE Play reported Crespo’s lighthearted response when asked about a possible duet: “Sería un palo, pero no sé si Rosalía se atreve a hacer una colaboración conmigo”. He also invited her to sing together. The remarks were playful; the report does not say a collaboration has been agreed.
