Ashley St. Clair says Elon Musk first contacted her through direct messages on X, and that they later met in person in connection with an interview for The Babylon Bee. She recounted the origin story during a June 2026 appearance on The Don Lemon Show, as summarized by TMZ. That is St. Clair’s account; the available coverage does not independently verify how the relationship began.
How did Elon Musk and Ashley St. Clair meet?
In her Don Lemon Show appearance, St. Clair said Musk slid into her DMs on X. She said they subsequently met in person in connection with an interview for The Babylon Bee. TMZ’s June 17, 2026 report summarizes her account; it is not a full interview transcript, so exact wording beyond the published summary should not be inferred.

One detail matters: St. Clair was not a Babylon Bee staff writer when she met Musk. Mediaite corrected an earlier version of its February 2025 coverage that had implied she was. The connection described in the later account was an interview, not her employment at the publication.
What has St. Clair said about their relationship?
On February 16, 2025, St. Clair publicly identified Musk as the father of her baby. Mediaite quoted her announcement: “Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father.” That records her public claim at the time; it is not itself a court finding.

She filed paternity and custody petitions in New York. The Washington Post reported the allegations in those petitions and text-message screenshots filed with them. Allegations in a filing are not equivalent to a judicial determination, and the cited coverage does not establish a final court outcome.

In September 2026, St. Clair appeared at the Venice Film Festival in connection with Alex Gibney’s documentary Musk. The Associated Press reported that she discusses her relationship with Musk in the film and says she refused a nondisclosure agreement. AP quoted her: “I was offered the opportunity not to speak for $40 million.” This is her attributed account of an alleged offer, not independent proof that an offer or payment occurred.

AP’s September 8, 2026 report said the film was planned for theatrical release in October 2026. That was a planned release at the time of the report; it does not establish current screenings or availability.

What is established—and what remains unverified?
- St. Clair’s account: She said Musk contacted her on X and that they later met in connection with a Babylon Bee interview.
- Public filings: She announced her claim about the child’s paternity and filed paternity and custody petitions; the reporting cited here describes her claims, not a final court ruling.
- Documentary remarks: AP reported her statements about refusing an NDA and an alleged $40 million offer. Those remarks remain attributed to her.
- Musk’s response: The cited coverage does not establish his response to the specific 2026 interview account. The Washington Post said he did not respond to that newspaper’s request for comment in February 2025, which is not evidence of his response to later remarks.
