On February 20, 2025, Elon Musk appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) wearing sunglasses and handling a chainsaw. That same day, Grimes publicly asked him to respond about what she described as their child’s medical crisis. The events drew attention together, but the public reporting does not establish the child’s medical circumstances or confirm that X deliberately hid Grimes’s posts.
What Musk did at CPAC
Gizmodo’s Matthew Gault reported on February 21, 2025, about Musk’s appearance the day before. Musk wore sunglasses during an interview with host Rob Schmitt and waved a chrome-plated chainsaw onstage. The chainsaw and sunglasses were reported details of the appearance, not endorsements.
Gizmodo’s account says Musk talked about memes, comedy, politics and government. When Schmitt asked him to describe the inside of his mind, Musk replied, “My mind is a storm.” That quotation is attributed to Musk in Gizmodo’s account; the article’s embedded video was not independently available for verification here.
What Grimes said in her public plea
The Independent reported that Grimes posted a request for Musk to respond about their child’s medical crisis. Her post began, “Plz respond about our child’s medical crisis.” She said she had tried calling, texting and emailing him without a response, and asked him to appoint someone who could communicate with her.

Was Grimes shadowbanned on X?
The reporting does not confirm that X shadowbanned Grimes. The Independent said her posts were no longer showing and reported that another user suggested she appeared to have been shadowbanned. Grimes replied “lol” to that suggestion. Neither the reported disappearance of posts nor the exchange establishes that X deliberately restricted their reach.
