At the TIME100 Summit on April 24, 2024, Elliot Page described attacks on trans people as coming from multiple directions, naming healthcare, identification, bathrooms and sports. He summed up their effect as “Just pushing people out of life.”
What did Elliot Page mean by “overwhelming tactics”?
Page was speaking with TIME editor Sam Lansky during a panel called “The Power of Authenticity.” A People report syndicated by Yahoo quoted him describing what he saw as a broad pattern of attacks on trans existence:
“It’s the same unfortunately right now, overwhelming tactic of these attacks coming from all sides in terms of trans existence, whether it’s healthcare, ID, use of bathrooms, the ability to play sports, et cetera,” Page said.
He then captured the consequence in a short phrase: “Just pushing people out of life.” The remarks were reported by People, in a report syndicated by Yahoo Entertainment on April 25, 2024. That account is a secondary report, not a full event transcript.

How did he connect the issue to bodily autonomy?
Page framed the debate as a question of control over one’s own life and future. The report quoted him saying: “It’s bodily autonomy, being able to have control over your body, over your life, over your future.” He also argued for coalition among movements, connecting the defense of trans people’s lives to broader efforts around bodily autonomy.
Where did Page say he found hope?
Page pointed to community: people who continue resisting and supporting one another. His answer located hope not in a claim that the attacks had ended, but in people’s persistence and mutual support.
