The birthday wish in her acceptance speech
After thanking her fellow actors and the people she worked with on The Crown, Debicki included a brief personal message: “It’s my mum’s birthday, happy birthday mum. Thank you so much.” The wording comes from the official speech transcript.
She began by noting that she had no shoes on and had not expected to win. She also recalled being cast in a school play as a child, before thanking her colleagues on the series and turning to the birthday greeting. The transcript does not identify her mother or establish a date for the birthday.

Netflix Tudum reported that more than 130,000 performers represented by the union decided the awards; that figure describes the voting body broadly, not the number of voters in Debicki’s category. Netflix Tudum’s 2024 winners list also names Debicki as the winner for The Crown.
