Elisabeth Hasselbeck says she will not return to Survivor because she does not want to leave her children or miss their activities. She called her answer a “solid no” and said any approach about Survivor 50 may have been indirect.
Why Elisabeth Hasselbeck says no to returning
On the March 4, 2026 episode of The View: Behind the Table, Hasselbeck spoke with executive producer Brian Teta about her time on Survivor and whether she had been asked to compete again. In reports about the interview, she confirmed receiving return requests and answered: “Solid no. Solid no, every single time.” Parade reported her comments on March 5, 2026.
Her reason was family. She said, “I don’t think I could leave the kids. I barely want to miss a [sports] game today that I know is going on.” She did not cite a dispute with the show or a production problem.
Was she asked to return for Survivor 50?
Hasselbeck did not confirm a formal invitation for Survivor 50. She described the possibility tentatively: “I think, maybe, there was an indirect ask. I think I’d trained them to know [I’d say no].” That is different from saying producers made a direct offer. Parade and AOL, republishing an Entertainment Weekly report, covered the exchange.

Her first Survivor season
Hasselbeck competed on Survivor: The Australian Outback in 2001. Parade reports that she finished fourth. During the interview, she also recalled going into the season with little outdoor experience: she said she practiced tying knots with shoelaces on the flight and learned about fishing from a book. Those memories describe her preparation at the time, not advice or an endorsement.
