Kalina asistió el 29 de mayo de 2024 a una ceremonia familiar en el Palacio de Vrana, en Sofía, relacionada con la repatriación y despedida de Fernando I de Bulgaria. Un vestido sin mangas dejó a la vista sus brazos musculados; las imágenes se difundieron y la cobertura mediática se centró en el contraste con fotografías anteriores.
La atención pública fue una reacción a su aspecto, no una conclusión clínica sobre su salud ni una prueba de que hubiera seguido un tratamiento concreto.

En declaraciones recogidas por Europa Press y publicadas por El Español en noviembre de 2024, Kalina vinculó su musculatura al entrenamiento con cargas de pesas: «Si uno entrena a un nivel, recibe ese nivel». 20minutos también recogió esa frase y señaló que la princesa se mostró sorprendida por la viralidad de la fotografía.

En una entrevista recogida por HOLA, Kalina dijo que no esperaba la reacción: «Simplemente llevaba un vestido sin mangas. En pleno siglo XXI, el físico de una mujer no debería ser noticia». HOLA también le atribuyó esta explicación sobre su motivación: «Lo hago únicamente para estar sana y sentirme bien».
El Español informó que Kalina había contado anteriormente a LOC que entrenaba con pesas y que compitió durante 15 años en Marruecos en campeonatos nacionales e internacionales representando a Bulgaria. Ese historial procede de una entrevista anterior citada por el medio, no de una verificación independiente. Su marido, Kitín Muñoz, resumió el entrenamiento familiar con la frase «Entrenamos en familia», citada por 20minutos.

La pausa de entrenamiento que mencionó en noviembre
En los Premios Antena de Oro, según 20minutos el 17 de noviembre de 2024, Kalina dijo que debía volver a empezar después de una pequeña operación que requería reposo. La noticia no especificó el diagnóstico ni los detalles clínicos de la intervención; por tanto, no permite concluir que la operación estuviera relacionada con su musculatura o con un problema de salud determinado.
El antecedente sobre su nariz es una historia separada
HOLA y Antena 3 atribuyeron a Muñoz una explicación sobre una lesión antigua: según su relato, un tratamiento dental posterior fue seguido por una infección y una operación de urgencia que priorizó salvar el ojo y la nariz. HOLA añadió que la cirugía dejó un daño estético. Se trata de declaraciones del marido recogidas por medios, no de un informe médico independiente; tampoco explican el desarrollo muscular que llamó la atención en 2024.
