Both outlets said he was 88 and that his death followed illnesses associated with advanced age, but they gave different versions of his name.
What the 2008 reports said
People en Español, in a May 27, 2008 report, identified the singer’s father as Marco Solís Marroquín. El Informador, carrying an NTX report dated May 26, identified him as Antonio Solís Marroquín. Both reported his age as 88. The available accounts do not resolve the difference in his first name, so it is best to attribute each form to its outlet.

When and where he died
El Informador placed the death in Morelia, Michoacán; People en Español said it occurred in Michoacán, Mexico. Both described it as happening on the Saturday before publication. Given their publication dates, that points to May 24, 2008, although neither article printed that calendar date.
Cause of death and funeral
Both accounts attributed the death broadly to illnesses associated with advanced age, without naming a diagnosis. El Informador said the information was confirmed by Abel Solís, identified as the singer’s representative.

The reports described a wake, a private or discreet religious service attended by close friends and family, and cremation. El Informador located the funeral home in Morelia’s Periférico Norte area.

Both outlets reported that the father and María Elena Sosa had seven children: one daughter and six sons, including Marco Antonio Solís.
