Eiza González plays Agustina “Auggie” Salazar in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, a scientist whose story gives the actor room to explore ambition, complexity and representation. On her personal life, González spoke about being in a relationship with tennis player Grigor Dimitrov in interviews published in April and May 2026. Those dated interviews do not establish her relationship status today.
Who does Eiza González play in 3 Body Problem?
González plays Agustina “Auggie” Salazar. Vogue México describes Auggie as a Latina migrant and the smartest person in her environment, placing the character’s scientific ability and outsider perspective at the center of her story. Vogue México’s June 22, 2026 profile connects the role to González’s broader interest in choosing characters that can widen portrayals of Mexican and Latina women.

“I focus on what I can control; that the choice of my characters elevates my country, Latina women, Mexican women,” González said in that interview. The English wording is translated from Spanish.
How is Auggie different in the adaptation?
González told Numéro Netherlands on May 15, 2026 that Auggie is “an amalgamation of different figures from the books.” She initially did not know which storyline from The Dark Forest she would embody, and said she was excited by the direction the writers chose.

She described Auggie as internally chaotic and not written to win approval. “Especially because women in STEM are not worried about being liked, they’re worried about breaking through in science and finding the result or the response that could change the world,” she said. That framing makes the character’s sharp edges part of the point: Auggie’s story is about pursuing scientific answers, not making herself agreeable.
What González has said about the next season
In the same May 2026 interview, González said she had wrapped filming the next season and called the work challenging, with every episode demanding something new. She described the role’s arc as “honestly my favourite character arc I’ve ever experienced.” The report is a filming update, not an announcement of a release date.

Who is Eiza González dating?
In an interview published April 7, 2026, Women’s Health identified tennis player Grigor Dimitrov as González’s boyfriend. González described the relationship as “amazing” and “healthy,” adding, “I’ve never been in such an amazing, healthy, all-around relationship, with someone that I admire and look up to.” She also said Dimitrov supported her by accompanying her to appointments and learning about her diagnoses.
In a separate interview published May 15, 2026, González described a “stable, kind, beautiful, larger-than-life relationship.” She also said of what she shares publicly: “The rest, for me, is on my own terms and what I feel is enough to share.” The April and May interviews support saying that she spoke about being in a relationship with Dimitrov at those times; they do not confirm her status on October 8, 2026.

Why older reports need a date
Relationship coverage can become misleading when old statements are treated as current. On April 2, 2024, González said she was single and cautioned that a man seen near her could be a friend. That statement predates the 2026 interviews and should not be used to override them—or to establish her current status. AS USA reported her 2024 statement; sightings and rumor roundups are not confirmation of a relationship.

González has described choosing parts that let her move beyond narrow expectations of Latina characters. In a May 17, 2026 interview with EFE, she said: “At the end of the day I have many vulnerable characters, in ‘3 Body Problem’ or ‘I Care a Lot’ (…) I feel they are more women who are unapologetic, clear and confident in who they are as people.” The quotation is translated from Spanish.

She also credited director Guy Ritchie with helping her stretch into unfamiliar roles: “I’ll always be grateful to Guy because he saw something in me that many people didn’t, and he’s always allowed me to step outside my comfort zone with characters.” Auggie fits that broader pattern: a vulnerable but forceful character defined by her work and choices rather than by the need to please an audience.
