In a 2017 interview with PerthNow, Eileen Bond said she still loved company, entertaining and parties. “I travel alone, but when I get there I always want to entertain people,” she said. “If there’s a party on I’m there.”
What Eileen Bond said about socialising
Bond’s own remarks are the clearest account of the profile’s central point: travelling alone did not mean she wanted to spend her time alone. She described arriving somewhere and wanting to host people, and said she would attend if a party was on.
The feature portrays her as a long-time Perth socialite, including among the most photographed Australian socialites of the 1980s. It says she divided her time among homes in Perth, Sydney and England. These are details reported in 2017, not confirmation of her current routine.
Her home, family and party style in the 2017 profile
The profile visits Bond at her Peppermint Grove home, described as dating to 1905 and decorated with hot-pink walls. She joked: “You can only paint a house pink if you live by yourself because if you lived with a man he wouldn’t accept it.” She added that she was sure Alan would not have accepted it had he been alive.

PerthNow identified Bond as the former wife of the late tycoon Alan Bond. The feature said she had eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Its description of her party wardrobe included eccentric sunglasses, oversized rings, sequins, diamantés and feathers; it named no brands or products.
The events she planned to attend in 2017
Bond told the publication she planned to attend the Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse in November 2017 and host her annual Christmas party in Perth the following month. The article estimated that about 150 guests would attend the gathering, including family, socialites, politicians and business people. These were plans reported at the time, not current event information.

A retrospective, not a current update
PerthNow’s feature is a portrait based on an interview and a visit to Bond’s home, published on 1 October 2017. It offers her recollections and reported plans from that period; it does not establish her present-day circumstances. Bond also reflected on her life: “There were a lot of ups and a lot of downs,” she said, “But I think the ups outweigh the downs.”
