The reporting cited here supports three distinct episodes of criticism involving Dwayne Johnson—not 15. They concern his conduct on the Red One set, the public fundraising appeal for Maui wildfire survivors, and his explanation for regretting his 2020 endorsement of Joe Biden. Each has important context, and none supports treating every allegation or online reaction as proven misconduct.
What happened on the Red One set?
In an interview with GQ, Johnson confirmed that he urinated in bottles while working on the film and acknowledged that he was sometimes late. TheWrap reported his remarks on November 11, 2024, quoting him: “I pee in a bottle” and, when asked about lateness, “Yeah, that happens too.”

Johnson disputed the scale of earlier reports about how late he was, calling the reported amount “a bananas amount” and “crazy.” TheWrap also reported that co-star Chris Evans described scheduling accommodations. Unnamed crew members gave the outlet accounts alleging disruption. Those are different kinds of evidence: Johnson confirmed the bottle practice and some lateness, while the more extensive claims about disruption came from anonymous sources and were contested in part by Johnson’s response.
Why did the People’s Fund of Maui draw criticism?
After the Maui wildfires, Johnson and Oprah Winfrey each pledged $5 million to launch the People’s Fund of Maui and asked the public to donate. The public appeal drew criticism from people who questioned why two very wealthy public figures were asking others for contributions. Johnson later said he understood the backlash and could have handled the appeal better, as summarized by the Los Angeles Times.

The criticism of the appeal is not evidence that the fund produced no aid. In an Associated Press report published April 22, 2024, the Entertainment Industry Foundation said the fund had raised almost $60 million, and AP reported that payments had gone to about 8,100 adults. The same AP report cited a State of Hawaii estimate that about 12,000 people had been displaced. These figures describe the fund’s reported fundraising and distributions, not a finding that every affected person received aid.
What did Johnson say about endorsing Joe Biden?
Johnson endorsed Biden in the 2020 presidential election. On April 5, 2024, The Guardian reported that Johnson said he would not endorse a candidate in that year’s election and regretted his earlier endorsement because he believed it had contributed to division. That is a stated reason for his change in approach; it is not evidence of a hidden motive or a new endorsement of another candidate.

Does UFC antitrust litigation implicate Johnson personally?
No personal wrongdoing by Johnson is established by the corporate litigation described in TKO’s SEC filing. The filing discusses antitrust claims brought by former UFC fighters against Zuffa, including a settlement in the Le case that received final approval on February 6, 2025, for $375 million. It also identifies a separate action captioned Johnson v. Zuffa and says no trial date had been set at the reporting point.
A case name is not proof that the actor and wrestler Dwayne Johnson is a defendant: in this context, the filing describes litigation brought by former fighters. Nor does board membership at TKO, by itself, establish personal liability for a company’s legal dispute. This corporate matter should not be counted as a personal controversy without evidence connecting Johnson himself to alleged wrongdoing.
