Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey verbally rebuked an attendee waving a white MAGA hat during the band’s Boston St. Patrick’s Day weekend shows in March 2025. The exchange was profane, but it was not a physical confrontation. The band’s X account suspension had been visible months earlier, so it was not caused by Casey’s concert remarks.
What happened at the Boston concert?
During the band’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend performances in Boston in March 2025, Casey addressed an attendee holding up a white MAGA hat. TheWrap reported on March 16 that the attendee had held the hat up through the night. The Boston Globe later identified the widely shared video as coming from the Sunday event at MGM Music Hall at Fenway. Because those accounts refer to different performances or dates, the specific clip’s date is not established consistently in the coverage. TheWrap The Boston Globe
In remarks reported from the video, Casey called the black-on-black hat the “Elon Musk, true Nazi edition,” then said, “This is America, there’s no kings here.” He asked the attendee to be quiet while the band played a song about their grandparents and people who fought Nazis. His reported words included: “We’re gonna play a song about our grandparents and people who fought Nazis in the war and s–t, if you could just shut the f–k up for five minutes.” These are reported remarks from the clip; the reviewed coverage did not provide an independent official transcript. Did the concert get Dropkick Murphys suspended from X?
No. The suspension notice for the band’s X account predates the March 2025 concert. Lead Stories reported that archived versions of the account showed a suspension notice by June 17, 2024. That timing rules out the Boston exchange as the cause of the notice. Lead Stories

Casey told outlets that the band had quit Twitter in 2022 and that another party later took the band’s handle while claiming to be the official account. He said the band filed a legal complaint and that the dispute led to the account being shown as suspended. That explanation is Casey’s account of the handle dispute; the reporting establishes the earlier suspension notice, not an independent finding about every step in the dispute. Pitchfork Lead Stories
In his statement, Casey put it this way: “We broke up with him first. We quit Twitter in 2022 when he was only half a Nazi.” The “half a Nazi” phrase is Casey’s political characterization, not an independently established factual finding. Pitchfork
