The Dragon Ball Super manga has a fresh hint of activity, but no confirmed return date. In August 2026, manga artist Toyotarou replied to a fan, and V Jump reposted the exchange while describing the series as “serializing.” Neither post, as reported, announced a new chapter or a schedule for regular serialization.
What is the latest update on the Dragon Ball Super manga?
Complex reported that on August 5, 2026, Toyotarou replied to a post by a user sharing their seven-year-old son’s wish for more Dragon Ball Super manga. The reply was reported as: “Thank you. I got it.” V Jump’s official X account later reposted the exchange and described Dragon Ball Super as a “serializing” work. Complex’s report does not identify a chapter date or say when regular publication will resume.
A second report, published August 28, also found no return date. It reads V Jump’s wording and repost as a possible sign that Toyotarou may return, rather than as a formal schedule announcement. The report therefore supports describing this as suggestive social-media activity—not confirmation that serialization has restarted.
Where the manga left off
Chapter 103 and the start of the hiatus
Complex reports that Chapter 103 was published in V Jump on March 20, 2024, before the manga’s monthly serialization stopped.

Chapter 104 was a one-shot, not a monthly relaunch
In February 2025, the manga returned for Chapter 104, a Goten and Trunks one-shot. The report says it completed Volume 24 and the Super Hero Saga; it did not restart regular monthly serialization. Complex’s coverage distinguishes that special installment from a return to the usual schedule.
What the earlier 2025 guidance did—and did not—say
A July 2025 MeriStation report, citing a fan’s conversation with editor Victory Uchida at Jump Carnival, said the manga would not resume its usual publication rhythm in 2025 and that fans should wait for news in 2026. That was guidance about the outlook at the time, not a promised 2026 launch date. The later August 2026 reports still gave no date. MeriStation’s report provides the earlier context.

Does the Galactic Patrol anime announcement mean the manga is back?
No. Toei Animation announced on January 26, 2026, that Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol was in production as an anime adaptation of the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc. That is an anime development, not an announcement about manga publication. Toei Animation’s announcement concerns the anime project and does not establish a manga return date.
