Toei Animation confirmed Dragon Ball Super: Beerus on January 26, 2026, describing it as an enhanced edition of the existing Dragon Ball Super anime. A DMCA takedown had appeared in rumor coverage three days earlier, but it was not the confirmation: Toei’s official announcement is. The new edition is scheduled for Fall 2026, with an October 11 Japanese start date reported by a secondary source in September.
Did Toei Animation confirm a Dragon Ball Super remake?
Yes. Toei Animation officially announced Dragon Ball Super: Beerus on January 26, 2026. The studio calls it an “ENHANCED edition” of the existing TV anime, rather than presenting it as a wholly new series. Toei says work began a few years before the announcement and describes the goal as telling the story more faithfully and in greater detail in line with Akira Toriyama’s work.

Toei’s announcement says: “The ENHANCED edition of Dragon Ball Super unfolds!” (Toei Animation’s announcement).
What the enhanced edition is expected to change
Toei’s announcement describes substantial production and story changes, not simply a new release of the existing footage:
#1 Best Overall
- Extensive new cuts and revisions to existing scenes
- Complete re-rendering of footage
- Newly recorded dubbing
- Added score and sound effects
- A full reconstruction of the story
Those are the changes Toei has announced; the studio has not specified the new edition’s episode count or exactly which arcs it will cover.
What the reported DMCA takedown does—and does not—prove
A January 23, 2026 AnimeUp report said a purported leaked storyboard had been removed after a DMCA notice. The report treated the removal as a possible clue that the material came from a new production, while noting that Toei had not officially confirmed the project at that time (AnimeUp’s report).

- Ultimate destruction is coming! Goku and Vegeta face off against legendary Super Saiyan Broly in an explosive battle to save the world.
That is a report about a takedown and the speculation surrounding it, not independent proof that the storyboard was authentic or that a remake existed. The original platform notice, claimant record and affected upload have not been verified here. The sequence is straightforward: the DMCA story circulated as a rumor-era clue on January 23; Toei announced Dragon Ball Super: Beerus on January 26. The later official announcement confirms the project independently of the earlier inference.
When will Dragon Ball Super: Beerus premiere?
Toei’s January announcement gave a broad Fall 2026 window. A MeriStation report updated September 7, 2026, gives October 11, 2026, as the Japanese start date and says new episodes are expected on Sundays (MeriStation’s report). Treat that specific date and schedule as secondary reporting; check local listings for availability in other territories.

How it relates to the original anime and the next project
Toei’s catalog lists the original Dragon Ball Super TV anime at 131 episodes of 26 minutes each (Toei Animation’s catalog, accessed October 8, 2026). That figure describes the original series only. It does not establish how many episodes the enhanced edition will have.
Toei also announced Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol as a separate new anime project set after the Universe Survival arc. It is a continuation project, not another name for the Beerus enhanced edition.
