Spoilers for Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 16, “Degesu.” The episode’s decisive reveal is King Gomah’s transformation into Third Eye Gomah after he obtains the Evil Third Eye, also called the Tertian Oculus. That makes him the emerging final-battle antagonist; Goku’s Super Saiyan 3 reveal happens later, at the end of Episode 17.
What happens in Episode 16?
Episode 16 interweaves a rescue mission with the race for the Demon World Dragon Balls. Goku’s group goes after Dende, whom Degesu has taken, while the search for the final Dragon Ball brings them into conflict with Dr. Arinsu, Majin Kuu, and Majin Duu.

The group rescues Dende
At the palace, Vegeta faces the Gendarmerie Force as the others locate Dende in the hangar. Panzy intervenes, and Glorio’s thrown hat creates an opening. Piccolo uses it to knock Degesu out, freeing Dende. Crunchyroll’s episode recap covers the rescue and its action beats.
Gomah interrupts Goku and Majin Duu
With the rescue accomplished, the group turns toward Tamagami Number One and the remaining Dragon Ball. Arinsu, Kuu, and Duu already have the First Demon World Dragon Ball. Goku challenges Duu, but Gomah arrives before their fight can settle the immediate contest.

How does Gomah become Third Eye Gomah?
Gomah acquires the Evil Third Eye—the Tertian Oculus—and places it on his forehead. Its power transforms him into a gigantic form called Third Eye Gomah. The Dragon Ball Official Site’s Episode 16 account describes the transformation as being brought about “Through the mighty power of the Evil Third Eye.” The site notes that its content includes machine-translated text, so the terminology may sound unusual; “Evil Third Eye” and “Tertian Oculus” are the names it presents.
This is the episode’s turning point: the threat expands from the palace conflict and the struggle over the Dragon Balls to Gomah himself, now empowered for the coming climax. Episode 16 establishes the antagonist and his new power, rather than showing the final battle play out.

What Episode 16 accomplishes—and what it does not
As a piece of serialized storytelling, “Degesu” earns its action-heavy construction by making the two plot threads converge on a larger threat. The Dende rescue delivers a contained payoff; the Dragon Ball pursuit brings Goku into contact with Duu; and Gomah’s transformation changes the stakes just as that confrontation begins. That is an assessment of how the episode’s events fit together, not a published rating or audience-performance claim.
Keep the next episode’s events separate. The official series account says Goku turns Super Saiyan 3 at the end of Episode 17, and anticipates a fight against Third Eye Gomah in Episode 18. The Super Saiyan 3 reveal is therefore not part of Episode 16. The official Episode 17 account places that reveal after “Degesu.”
