When did Dragon Age: The Veilguard launch?
EA first announced a fall 2024 release window on June 9, 2024. On August 15, EA set the worldwide launch date for October 31, and its launch-day announcement confirmed the game was available that day. EA’s release-date announcement includes the date and details about the game.
At launch, EA listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the EA app, and Epic Games Store. EA’s product page lists EA app, Steam, Epic Games, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox; check the relevant storefront for current availability and pricing.
Who are the seven companions?

EA identifies seven companions, each with an individual storyline and motivations, as well as abilities and equipment that contribute to combat. EA says the companions come from factions in Dragon Age lore. Their individual stories and combat contributions make them part of both the narrative and the party’s capabilities, rather than merely names on Rook’s roster.
Why companion quests matter
In its launch guide, the Dragon Age team recommends pursuing companion quests and side content, saying they directly affect how later stages unfold. Exploration opens after the prologue, and the guide also encourages players to explore regions and seek out side quests and loot. The practical takeaway is to make time for companion stories as the game opens up, rather than treating them as optional background if you want to engage with the choices and events that shape later stages.
