Ben Gibson on Knots Landing
In 1983, Sheehan joined Knots Landing as journalist Ben Gibson, the second husband of Valene Ewing, played by Joan Van Ark. The Times and Television Academy say he appeared in more than 100 episodes; Forbes describes his run as five seasons.
Day by Day and other television work
Sheehan later co-led the sitcom Day by Day, which aired from 1988 to 1989. His other television credits included MacGyver, Dear John, Columbo, Clueless, Passions, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and What I Like About You, according to the Los Angeles Times. He began his professional television career with minor parts in Charlie’s Angels and Kaz.

In a 1987 interview recollection quoted by the Los Angeles Times, Sheehan described how he became interested in polo after seeing it at a charity event at Will Rogers park. He said the vintage Rolls-Royces and English boots caught his attention, and that he signed up for lessons the next day.
