When did Donna Farizan announce she was leaving?
Farizan made the announcement on Monday, September 8, 2025, during an episode of Jenna & Friends, with Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie present, according to The Independent’s September 9 report and Us Weekly’s September 10 report. The announcement was made in 2025; the headline’s “Today’s” does not indicate a new announcement in 2026.
Why is Donna Farizan leaving Jenna & Friends?
Farizan said she was leaving Today after 12 years to see what new professional opportunities might await her. The Independent quoted her saying, “And now, after 12 years with Today, I’m challenging myself to spread my wings beyond the show to see what new and exciting opportunities await me professionally.” Her stated reason was a desire for growth and a new professional chapter—not a publicly confirmed move to a particular job.
Farizan also referred to Own Your Power, a series she said she had launched the previous year to challenge herself to speak honestly. She connected that experience to her decision to take on another challenge.
