What is Hard Cut Vodka?
Hard Cut is an American-made vodka distilled in Idaho from potatoes and made with Rocky Mountain water, according to the company’s March 18, 2025 launch announcement and its official shop. It is bottled at 90 proof, or 45% alcohol by volume (ABV). The launch announcement identifies Dolph Lundgren as founder and chairman and Emma Krokdal as co-founder. Lundgren partnered on the product with bartender Philip Duff, identified in the release as Director of Vodka, and industry veteran Steve Luttmann. The company named Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits as its preferred U.S. distribution partner.
The launch release describes notes of green apple, fennel bulb, roasted potato and butterscotch, along with a creamy palate and smooth finish. Those are the brand’s tasting descriptions; the sources cited here do not provide an independent tasting assessment. Hard Cut Vodka’s March 18, 2025 launch announcement and the official Hard Cut shop provide the product details.
What Dolph Lundgren said about creating it
In the company’s launch release, Lundgren connected the vodka to his engineering background and his and Krokdal’s preference for drinking vodka on the rocks:

“From earning my Master’s in Chemical Engineering, to taking on Rocky on the big screen, I’ve always believed in pushing the limits, striving for the best in all I do,” says Dolph Lundgren, Founder and Chairman of Hard Cut Vodka. “My wife, Emma, and I enjoy vodka on the rocks, and after trying dozens of brands, we decided we needed to create the perfect liquid for a vodka world gone soft. Enter Hard Cut Vodka.”
This is a company-issued launch-release quote. A separate June 2025 interview with Lundgren was indexed by The Spirits Business, but the full article was not accessible for verification; the available excerpt says he chose vodka over other celebrity-popular spirits and enjoys it over ice.
