There is no verified evidence that Zachery Ty Bryan currently earns “massive” royalties from Home Improvement. A March 2025 entertainment report said he described his SAG-AFTRA residuals as variable and that payments were seized toward a reported $108,000 judgment. It did not disclose his current annual earnings or how much, if anything, remains after collection.
What is known about Bryan’s residual payments?
A March 2025 Yahoo Entertainment report republishing In Touch attributed its account to court documents. It said Bryan’s SAG-AFTRA residual income varied and that residuals had been seized toward a reported $108,000 judgment. The $108,000 figure is the reported judgment—not his royalty income. The report does not provide a current residual statement, annual total, garnishment balance, or net income. Read the report.
That reporting supports a limited conclusion: residual payments were reported, but their amount and what Bryan ultimately received are not established. It does not substantiate the word “massive,” and the report’s account should be treated as attributed reporting rather than a verified account of his present finances.
Why reruns do not reveal a performer’s current income
SAG-AFTRA defines residuals as “additional compensation paid to performers when a production is shown beyond the original use covered by the initial compensation.” The union’s guidance explains that residuals are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements and depend on factors such as later use and market. A show’s continued availability or number of reruns alone cannot establish what one actor is paid now.

Payments can also encompass multiple markets or runs in a reported amount. Without Bryan’s payment records and the applicable terms, there is no reliable way to turn the show’s ongoing circulation into a current annual figure. What the recent legal reports say
The legal developments are separate from the question of how much residual income Bryan receives. The Los Angeles Times reported in December 2025 that Bryan had been arrested in Oregon on suspicion of violating probation connected to a 2023 felony assault conviction. In a separate case, the Times reported on February 25, 2026, that Bryan pleaded guilty to felony DUI charges stemming from a 2024 arrest in La Quinta. He was sentenced to 16 months in jail, with credit for 57 days already served. Read the Times report on the sentence.
These reports do not establish his custody status on the date of publication here, nor do they provide an updated residual or garnishment account. They therefore cannot answer how much he currently receives—or whether any payments are still being withheld.

Does jail affect residual payments?
The available reporting does not show that incarceration automatically stops residual payments, nor does it establish what effect Bryan’s sentence has had on his payments. Residuals are compensation tied to later uses under union agreements; the cited sources do not explain a rule that connects a performer’s jail time to cancellation of those payments. Bryan’s personal payment records would be needed to determine what he earns or receives after any collection.
