Mason Mount is a well-documented Portsmouth supporter: he has recalled having a Pompey kit as a child, attending the club’s 2008 FA Cup final, and cheering for Portsmouth from the away end at a match that season. But the evidence does not establish a defensible list of Portsmouth FC’s “four most famous” supporters or a ranking that puts Mount in a top four.
What is known about Mason Mount and Portsmouth
Mount’s connection to Portsmouth is not just an association inferred from his football career. In a Chelsea FC interview, he recalled that his first football kit was a Portsmouth shirt and said he had supported the club since his first match as a young child. The interview page does not state a publication date.
A boyhood Pompey supporter at Wembley
In 2018, The FA reported Mount’s recollection of going to Wembley as a young Portsmouth fan to watch the club lift the FA Cup in 2008. That gives his support a specific, memorable connection to the club rather than relying only on a general claim of allegiance.
The January 2008 away end
Mount also recalled being in the away end supporting Portsmouth when Cristiano Ronaldo scored against the club in January 2008. The Premier League quoted him in 2023: “I was there in the away end, supporting my team Pompey, and was able to witness that special moment.”

A local football pathway
Mount’s childhood football background also included Portsmouth’s development centre, according to a BBC Sport profile. That is useful context for his local connection, but a youth-development link by itself would not prove that someone supports a club; in Mount’s case, the first-person accounts do that.
Can four supporters be called Portsmouth’s most famous?
Not on the evidence established here. “Most famous” needs a comparison rule—such as public prominence, independent confirmation of club support, or duration of support—and no reliable source identified four Portsmouth supporters and ranked them by any such measure. Nor is there a published statistic that settles the question.

It would therefore be misleading to fill the other three places with people merely because they are famous, connected to Portsmouth city, former players, or associated with club history. Those facts do not establish that a person supports Portsmouth FC. A secondary encyclopedic page identifies John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood as a recognisable Pompey supporter, but that single identification cannot substantiate a four-person ranking.

- Not verified: a definitive set of four famous supporters, an objective fame measure, or Mount’s place in a comparative top four.
For a properly sourced supporter list, each candidate would need reliable confirmation of actual Portsmouth FC support, evidence of public prominence, and a transparent explanation of why the person belongs in the selection. Without that, Mount is a compelling documented example—not proof of a ranked quartet.
