No—Jamie does not die in Outlander Season 7, Part 2. His story continues beyond that season: the television series later depicts his death in the Season 8 finale, while the novels have not yet revealed their final outcome for him.
What happens to Jamie in Season 7, Part 2?
Jamie survives Season 7, including Part 2. STARZ lists 16 episodes for the season; its synopsis for episode 16, “A Hundred Thousand Angels,” focuses on Denzell performing an operation and William seeking help, not Jamie dying. STARZ’s Season 7 episode listing identifies it as the season’s final episode.
Season 7 adapts the seventh Outlander novel, An Echo in the Bone, amid the American Revolution, according to production company Left Bank Pictures. That season’s ending is not the end of Jamie’s television story.
Does Jamie die later in the TV series?
Yes. The series continued through Season 8, which STARZ identifies as its final season. Its episode listing names Season 8, episode 10, “And the World Was All Around Us,” as the 2026 series finale: STARZ’s episode listing.

SYFY Wire’s May 15, 2026 report says the finale depicts Jamie dying at the Battle of Kings Mountain. The closing scene complicates that apparent ending: gray-haired Claire lies beside Jamie, and both awaken before the episode cuts to black. The scene is deliberately ambiguous; it does not establish a definitive resurrection or explain the final moments as a confirmed second death.
Does Jamie die in the Outlander books?
The published novels do not yet provide the final answer. Diana Gabaldon’s official Book Ten page identifies A Blessing for a Warrior Going Out as the tenth major novel, following Book Nine, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. The page, updated February 7, 2026, says Book Ten remains in progress and has no announced publication date. Until that final novel is published, Jamie’s ultimate fate in the books is unresolved.

For more of Jamie and Claire’s published story, the next book after the Season 7 source novel is Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, Book Nine. Its events should not be treated as confirmation of the TV finale’s outcome or of what Book Ten will decide.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the TV and book answers differ
The TV series and the novels are separate story continuities. Season 7 ends without Jamie’s death; the completed television adaptation later gives him a Kings Mountain death and an ambiguous final image. Gabaldon’s still-unfinished Book Ten has not supplied the novels’ ending. A television event therefore cannot settle Jamie’s fate on the page.
