The TARDIS sighting is in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, Episode 6, “Valles Marineris.” It is a deliberate Doctor Who Easter egg, not a full crossover episode. Commander Pelia also hints at the connection in dialogue, while co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman has described the idea as part of the creative team’s imagined version of her past.
Which Strange New Worlds episode features the TARDIS?
The blue police box appears in “Valles Marineris,” the sixth episode of Season 3. Both SYFY Wire and TV Insider identify the episode as the TARDIS reference’s placement.
What does Pelia say about the Doctor?
In the episode, Commander Pelia, played by Carol Kane, says, “I think I was in a phone box at the time,” according to SYFY Wire. A phone box is the understated clue: the Doctor’s TARDIS is famously disguised as a British police box. The line is a verbal nod rather than an explanation of how the two fictional worlds might fit together.
TV Insider also reports a separate Doctor-related remark from Pelia in the Season 3 finale. That later callback is distinct from the visual TARDIS sighting in “Valles Marineris”; the references do not amount to a crossover story unfolding across those episodes.

Did Star Trek and Doctor Who officially cross over?
No full television crossover aired. Goldsman told SYFY Wire that he and former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies discussed what a crossover might look like, including its narrative shape and the possibility of a two-part episode. Goldsman said corporate obstacles prevented the idea from going ahead.
Instead, the Strange New Worlds team chose to make a small connection through Pelia’s phone-box anecdote. Goldsman described the impulse this way: “We went: let’s assume it did happen. Let’s follow our hearts when it comes to the idea and do our little bit to connect them.”

Does that make the TARDIS part of Star Trek canon?
Goldsman has offered a playful creative interpretation, not a formal franchise-wide canon ruling. In an Awards Radar interview, he said the conversations with Davies continued for years and added, “And so, certainly in our view, I mean, Pelia traveled in the TARDIS. Why not?”
That tells viewers how Goldsman and the creative team chose to think about the reference. It does not establish that the rights holders approved a shared canon or that a completed crossover exists. Goldsman also noted that the franchises have crossed over in comics, but the interview does not identify specific editions.
