In October 2024, consumers including Rosanna Pansino alleged that cheese in some Lunchly pizza kits looked moldy. Those reports prompted questions about Lunchly, but the available coverage does not establish laboratory-confirmed contamination across the product line or show how many packages, if any, were affected. Lunchly said its products undergo multiple inspections and approvals before leaving the manufacturing facility.
What prompted the Lunchly mold allegations?
Lunchly launched in 2024 with varieties including pizza, turkey with cheese and crackers, and nachos. The meal packs were described as including a Prime drink and Feastables chocolate. The October 2024 mold reports focused on cheese in the pizza kit.
On October 22, 2024, Fortune reported that Rosanna Pansino said she opened a Lunchly pizza package and saw what she believed was blue mold on the shredded cheese. She said the package had a December expiration date. Other social-media posts also alleged mold. These were consumer reports and images, not a published laboratory analysis or a representative survey of products.
Dexerto reported that Pansino later posted an uncut clip after people accused her of staging the discovery. The clip was part of a dispute over the video; it does not independently identify the substance shown or establish how often packages were affected.

What did Lunchly say?
On October 22, 2024, Lunchly told Dexerto: “All Lunchly products go through a stringent review process to ensure the quality and safety of its products.” The company said the process included multiple inspections and approvals, including USDA involvement, before products left the manufacturing facility.
That is Lunchly’s description of its process, not an independent agency finding about the controls or a guarantee about every individual package. The available reporting does not establish that USDA certified every package mold-free.

Was Lunchly recalled?
On October 28, 2024, Logan Paul denied social-media rumors that Lunchly had been recalled. Dexerto reported that its check of the FDA site at the time found no Lunchly recall report. That is a historical account of the outlet’s October 2024 check, not confirmation of the product’s status on October 8, 2026.
The FDA’s public records have different purposes. Its Enforcement Reports include recalls it monitors once they are classified; some may appear before classification. Its foodborne illness outbreak investigations page explains that the agency may not publicly name a specific product until there is sufficient evidence to implicate it, and that adverse-event investigations rely on self-reported data. Not seeing a product named on one public page does not, by itself, prove that no complaint exists or that the product is safe.

What the evidence does—and does not—show
- Consumer allegations: In October 2024, Pansino and other consumers posted or reported what they believed was mold, with the coverage centered on pizza-kit cheese.
- Company statement: Lunchly described inspections and approvals as part of its quality-control process.
- Confirmed scale: The reporting cited here does not provide laboratory-confirmed findings across Lunchly products, a representative prevalence study, or a reliable count of affected packages.
- Current official status: The October 2024 report about a search for FDA recall listings cannot establish the status of any investigation or recall now.
These are different kinds of evidence: a consumer observation is not a lab result, a company’s quality-control statement is not an independent inspection finding, and a regulator’s public record has a defined scope. None can substitute for the others.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you do if a Lunchly package looks moldy?
Do not eat food that appears spoiled. Keep the packaging and note the product details, such as the variety, lot or date code, and expiration date. If you believe a product caused an illness, contact a healthcare professional and the relevant public-health authorities. The FDA advises seeking medical guidance for illness concerns; an online post or the absence of a product name from a public investigation page is not a way to diagnose illness or determine that a suspect package is safe.
