Disney Jr.’s Ariel premiered in the United States on Disney Junior on June 27, 2024—not an upcoming June 27 date. Disney scheduled the debut for 9:00 a.m. EDT/PDT, followed by a Disney Channel airing later that day; eight initial episodes arrived on Disney+ on June 28.
What is Disney Jr.’s Ariel about?
The animated musical series follows a young mermaid princess Ariel as she explores life with her family and friends in Caribbean-inspired Atlantica. Disney describes it as a show for preschoolers and their families. The official series page says each episode contains two 11-minute stories, with themes including community, self-expression, curiosity and resourcefulness.
Disney Branded Television described the cultural approach this way in its May 8, 2024 announcement: “Each episode highlights themes of self-expression, curiosity and resourcefulness and celebrates the multicultural elements of the Caribbean through food, fashion, language and folklore.” Dr. Patricia Saunders, a University of Miami professor of English and hemispheric Caribbean studies, served as cultural consultant. Sean Skeete, dean of Berklee College of Music’s Professional Performance division, served as Caribbean music consultant. Disney says the original songs draw inspiration from diverse Caribbean music genres; Christopher Willis is named as composer.
Who voices Ariel and the other characters?
Mykal-Michelle Harris voices Ariel. The launch announcement also named these principal cast members:

Is Disney Jr.’s Ariel on Disney+?
Disney+ is among the official viewing destinations for the series. As of October 2026, its catalog lists two seasons, including season-two episodes such as “The Crystal World / Magic Octo-Juggle.” Disney’s June 2026 U.S. schedule said new season-two episodes began arriving June 1, 2026, with Ariel and her friends discovering the Crystal World. Disney cautions that catalog availability varies by region and can change, so check the Disney+ listing in your country.

The launch plan also included a Disney Channel airing on June 27, 2024, and eight initial episodes on Disney+ the following day. Local access to Disney Junior or Disney Channel depends on the TV service and region.

Disney announced two-minute shorts called Disney Jr.’s Ariel: Mermaid Tales, beginning June 5, 2024, across Disney+, Disney Channel and Disney Junior. It also announced an initial digital soundtrack release for June 28, 2024.
