Discord Checkpoint was Discord’s first personalized year-in-review. Released in December 2025 during Discord’s tenth-anniversary year, it turned a user’s activity on the platform into a private, shareable recap of the friends, games, servers, and habits that shaped their year.
There is one important catch: the 2025 Checkpoint was available only through January 15, 2026. As of August 12, 2026, Discord has not officially confirmed a subsequent annual edition in the sources reviewed. So if you are searching for a “Discord Wrapped,” that is a useful informal comparison—but Discord Checkpoint 2025 was the feature’s official name, and the original recap is no longer within its published viewing window.
What was Discord Checkpoint?
Discord Checkpoint was a personalized summary of how someone used Discord during 2025. Rather than presenting a general set of platform-wide statistics, it used account activity to assemble an individual recap.
Depending on a user’s activity, Checkpoint could highlight:

- Friends they talked with most;
- Games they played;
- Communities or servers that mattered most during the year;
- The number of messages they sent;
- Time spent in voice channels;
- Most-used emojis; and
- Other activity-based highlights.
After reviewing the recap, each user was matched with one of 10 Checkpoint cards. Each card had a corresponding avatar decoration—a digital Discord profile item, not a physical product or piece of merchandise.
Was Discord Checkpoint the same as Discord Wrapped?
Not officially. “Discord Wrapped” is a convenient reader-friendly comparison with other annual recap features, but Discord called its experience Discord Checkpoint 2025.
The comparison is useful because both concepts turn a person’s activity over a year into a colorful, shareable summary. However, using “Discord Wrapped” as though it were Discord’s product name can create confusion when searching for official instructions or support information.
Did Discord read users’ messages?
Discord said Checkpoint did not use the content of users’ messages. The recap relied on activity data, such as games played and time spent in voice channels, rather than displaying or analyzing a transcript of conversations.
Recommended Free Tools
That distinction matters. A recap could report how many messages a user sent, or identify patterns associated with their activity, without showing what those messages said. It could also identify interactions, games, servers, or emoji usage without turning private conversations into a public yearbook.
Discord’s broader personalization documentation describes the types of account information that may be used for personalized experiences as including games played, people a user interacts with, how Discord is used, connected services such as Xbox or Steam, and servers joined. These are broader personalization disclosures and should not be confused with a claim that Checkpoint read message content.
Who was eligible for Discord Checkpoint 2025?
Eligibility depended mainly on two conditions:
- The account had to have been active on Discord during 2025.
- The account had to have the Use data to personalize my Discord experience setting enabled.
Discord also warned that some people might not receive a recap because they were new to the service or did not have enough activity to produce meaningful statistics. There was no guarantee that every Discord account would receive a Checkpoint.
Why turning personalization on later did not help
Enabling the personalization setting after 2025 did not generate a retrospective Checkpoint. Discord explicitly stated that changing the setting would not create a 2025 recap after the fact.
Turning it on could allow Discord to create similar personalized experiences in the future, if the company offered them, but it could not reconstruct or unlock the expired 2025 Checkpoint simply by changing the preference.
How users accessed Checkpoint when it was available
During the original rollout, Discord instructed eligible users to update to the latest version of the app first. The access path depended on the device:
| Platform | Access path during the 2025 rollout |
|---|---|
| Desktop or web browser | Open Discord and select the flag icon in the upper-right corner. |
| iPhone or iPad | Open the You tab in the lower-right corner and select the Checkpoint banner. |
| Some eligible accounts | Follow the one-time pop-up that opened the recap. |
Discord’s Help Center also noted that Checkpoint was temporarily disabled on Android during the original availability period, while it remained available on iOS, desktop, and browser. That was a time-specific rollout detail for December 2025 and January 2026—not a permanent statement about Android support.

Can you still view Discord Checkpoint 2025?
According to Discord’s published availability window, no. The 2025 Checkpoint could be viewed through January 15, 2026. The current date for this coverage is August 12, 2026, so that window has ended.

Discord’s instructions for the flag icon, mobile banner, and pop-up describe how the feature worked while it was available. They should not be treated as current instructions for reopening the 2025 recap. Unless Discord publishes a restoration notice, archive policy, or a new access window, an expired Checkpoint should be considered unavailable.
Discord’s plans beyond the 2025 edition were still unfolding in the official information reviewed. There is no confirmed evidence here that Discord Checkpoint became a recurring annual program, and there is no official confirmation of a 2026 Checkpoint. Future editions remain possible but unconfirmed.
Was the recap private?
Yes. Checkpoint results were private by default: only the user could see the completed recap unless they chose to share it.
When the feature was active, users could select the Share button on the summary page to post a summary inside Discord. They could also take screenshots of individual pages and share those screenshots elsewhere.
It helps to separate two privacy questions:
1. Who could see the finished recap?
By default, the recap was visible only to the account holder. Other users did not automatically receive access to the results.
2. Could Discord use account activity for personalization?
The Use data to personalize my Discord experience setting governed whether Discord could use account-specific activity for personalized experiences and recommendations. It also affected eligibility for Checkpoint.
These are different issues. A private recap can still be generated from activity data under a personalization setting. Conversely, disabling personalization does not prevent someone from using Discord’s conversations, voice channels, servers, or other ordinary features; it limits the use of account-specific data for personalized functions and recommendations.
What if you never received a Checkpoint?
There are several plausible explanations:
- You were not active on Discord during 2025.
- Your account did not have enough activity to generate meaningful statistics.
- Your account was too new.
- Use data to personalize my Discord experience was disabled.
- You checked after the January 15, 2026 viewing deadline.
- You were affected by a platform-specific rollout limitation, such as the temporary Android interruption during the original availability period.
Changing the personalization setting now cannot create the expired 2025 recap. It may affect eligibility for a future personalized experience, but Discord has not officially confirmed that another Checkpoint will be offered.

No. Discord’s Data Package is a separate data-export tool, not a replacement for the Checkpoint visualization.
Discord says a Data Package request can include categories such as account data, activity, servers, messages, activities, advertisements, and support-ticket information. That makes it potentially useful for people who want to examine or preserve more of their Discord history after the recap has expired.
The package also separates different types of information. Its documentation distinguishes among analytics, modeling, reporting, and Trust & Safety data. The modeling folder contains information used to tailor parts of Discord, while the messages folder contains messages sent by the account, organized across direct messages, group messages, and channels.

The appeal of Checkpoint was not just the numbers. Discord is often used as a background layer for friendships, gaming groups, study communities, fandoms, and long-running private conversations. A recap could make those otherwise invisible habits visible: the friend who appeared most often, the server that became a daily destination, or the game that dominated a particular season.
That also explains why the feature was not meaningful for everyone. A person who used Discord occasionally, joined recently, or kept personalization disabled might not have generated enough eligible information for a substantial recap. Checkpoint was designed around an active, personalized account history rather than being a universal report delivered to every user.
What to do if you want to preserve future recaps
- Review Discord’s personalization setting. In Discord’s privacy or data settings, check whether Use data to personalize my Discord experience is enabled. Do this only if you are comfortable with Discord using relevant account activity for personalized experiences.
- Understand the trade-off. Enabling the setting may support future personalized features, but it cannot recover Checkpoint 2025 and does not guarantee that another annual recap will exist.
- Save the result while it is available. If Discord offers another recap, use its Share function or capture screenshots before the stated deadline.
- Use a Data Package request for broader records. This can help preserve account-related information, but it is not a substitute for the recap’s presentation or calculations.
The bottom line on “Discord Wrapped”
Discord Checkpoint 2025 was a real, official year-in-review feature, but “Discord Wrapped” was only an informal nickname. It summarized activity such as friends, games, servers, messages, voice time, and emoji use; assigned users one of 10 cards and a matching digital avatar decoration; and kept the finished recap private unless the user shared it.
The feature did not use message content according to Discord’s Help Center. Eligibility depended partly on activity and the personalization setting, and enabling that setting after 2025 could not produce a missing recap. Most importantly for anyone searching now, the published viewing period ended on January 15, 2026, and no later annual edition has been officially confirmed in the research reviewed.
