Those were reported demands in a dispute—not a confirmed court judgment.
What Treyce said the notice demanded
In an interview published by POPline on May 5, 2023, Treyce said: “Recebemos sim uma notificação e a multa seria de 40 mil dólares mais 100% do autoral.” In English: “Yes, we received a notice, and the fine would be $40,000 plus 100% of the publishing rights.” The wording describes what the notice demanded; it does not establish that a court imposed a fine or that rights were ultimately transferred. POPline’s interview also quoted Treyce saying, “Estamos recorrendo através da minha nova assessoria jurídica” (“We are appealing through my new legal counsel”).

Why “Lovezinho” was at the center of the dispute
Contemporary reports said “Lovezinho,” performed by Treyce and associated with producer and co-writer WK, used the melody of the chorus of Nelly Furtado’s “Say It Right” without prior authorization. The issue concerned the underlying song’s composition and publishing interests, rather than simply whether Treyce had recorded a performance. GZH’s May 4, 2023 report describes the dispute and the positions attributed to the parties.
What each side reportedly sought
The reported terms were opposing negotiation positions, not an adjudicated allocation of rights. GZH reported that the Brazilian publishing side offered 30% of the publishing to the foreign writers, while Sony Publishing—reported as representing the “Say It Right” publishing interests—sought 100% for that song’s writers and US$40,000 over the unauthorized use.

GZH quoted Sony Music legal director José Diamantino saying, “O fato de propormos 100% do autoral (para os autores de Say It Right) não é arbitrário. É super comum em caso de versões.” He characterized the proposed share as common in cases involving versions. The same report quoted Vinícius Pinheiro, a legal consultant for EM Publisher, saying the Sony side had imposed “0% do autoral, mais multa de US$ 40 mil” and that his side disagreed. These quotations describe the parties’ dispute; they do not settle which position prevailed.
Why the song was removed from streaming
GZH reported that “Lovezinho” was removed from streaming platforms in early May 2023 after negotiations failed to produce an agreement. The sources reviewed do not establish whether the song was later restored, so its present availability cannot be confirmed from this reporting.

The available reporting establishes that Treyce said her team received the notice and was appealing the takedown. It does not establish a final court judgment, a completed transfer of publishing rights, the result of her appeal, or a later settlement.
A separate May 2023 report said royalties were being held by ECAD and streaming platforms while the dispute remained unresolved, without disclosing an amount. That is a dated account, not evidence of the current status of royalties. Folha’s March 2023 report provides earlier context for the rights discussions, but does not establish how they ultimately concluded.
