A description of Welling’s 2018 interview says he and host Michael Rosenbaum discussed how much they enjoyed making out with Kreuk, but it does not name a scene or say Welling forgot it.
What did Tom Welling actually say?
The description for Welling’s Inside of You interview says he and Rosenbaum discussed “how much we both enjoyed making out with Kristin Kreuk.” It establishes a general conversation about kissing Kreuk, not a claim about one specific kiss or Welling’s memory of it. Read the episode description.
That distinction matters: the description does not identify which scene they discussed, quote Welling calling it forgettable, or explain what the headline’s framing refers to.
Where may the “forgettable” framing come from?
In her own Inside of You interview, Kreuk said she did not remember much of the show and that it was “really a blur.” She was describing her memory, not Welling’s. When Rosenbaum asked about memorable scenes, she recalled the final Lana-and-Clark scenes with Welling as devastating and said she spent long days crying while filming them. The transcript is machine-rendered, so its wording should be treated cautiously. See Kreuk’s interview transcript.

Does the Season 2 finale identify the kiss?
A June 2023 Talk Ville listing for “Exodus,” the Season 2 finale, identifies Kreuk as a guest and says the hosts discussed “some overly heavy kissing.” The listing does not name the kiss as the one in the headline or connect it to a claim that Welling forgot the moment. View the “Exodus” episode listing.
Which other Smallville kiss could cause confusion?
A separate Talk Ville discussion of the episode “Hug” concerns an awkward kiss involving Chloe Sullivan, played by Allison Mack—not Lana Lang, Kreuk’s character. That scene should not be mistaken for a Welling-and-Kreuk kiss. Read the report on the “Hug” discussion.

Smallville ran for ten seasons, and the Clark-Lana relationship was a major part of the series. Kreuk recalled that Welling was “great, really lovely” when she tested with him and called him “perfect for the role.” Co-creator Alfred Gough separately remembered Welling’s network reading with Kreuk as a moment of chemistry. Those comments provide context for the pairing, but they do not substantiate the claim about a forgettable kiss. TVLine’s cast oral history and Alfred Gough’s interview cover those recollections.
